Hello, dear Black and White community!

This time I’m back with three things that truly inspire me: the Peruvian Andes, landscape photography, and trekking.

Today I want to take you to one of my favorite and most meaningful places: the Sacred Valley of Urubamba, a beautiful stretch of land between 2,050 and 3,000 meters above sea level, located about 53 kilometers from the imperial city of Cusco, Peru.

This time, I hiked up to the Tantamarka viewpoint, a trail that takes between 1 hour and 45 minutes and 2 hours to reach the top. It can be a challenge if you’re not used to the altitude, but trust me, it’s totally worth it. From up there, you get an amazing view of the Urubamba district and the impressive Chicón and Veronica snow-capped mountains.

I remember that on the way down it started to rain. There were slips, some fear, and a lot of laughter the kind of moments that turn an excursion into a memory that stays with you forever.

I really enjoy editing in black and white because of the contrast it brings between the mountains, the clouds, and the village below. You can feel it more deeply than in color. With these photos, I hope to share a little of the power and energy of the Urubamba Valley, and everything this incredible place has to offer.

Hola, querida comunidad Blanco y Negro!

En esta ocasión regreso emocionado con tres de las cosas que más me apasionan: los Andes peruanos, la fotografía de paisajes y el trekking.

Hoy quiero llevarlos a uno de mis lugares más queridos e inspiradores: el Valle Sagrado del Urubamba, una joya andina que se extiende entre los 2,050 y 3,000 metros sobre el nivel del mar, a unos 53 kilómetros de la ciudad imperial del Cusco, Perú.

Esta vez hice una caminata hacia el mirador de Tantamarka, una ruta que toma entre 1 hora y 45 minutos y 2 horas para llegar a la cima. Puede ser un reto si no estás acostumbrado a la altura, pero créeme que vale totalmente la pena. Desde arriba se puede ver todo el distrito de Urubamba y los imponentes Nevados Chicón y Veronica.

Recuerdo que ese día, durante la bajada, empezó a llover. Hubo resbalones, miedo y muchas risas que terminaron marcando la excursión. Una aventura que se te queda grabada para siempre.

Me gusta mucho la edición en blanco y negro por el contraste que se forma entre las montañas, las nubes y el pueblo. Se aprecian mucho más que si estuvieran a color. Con estas fotos espero poder compartir un poco del poder y la energía del Valle del Urubamba, y todo lo que este lugar tan especial nos entrega.
