Sunday morning. One of those days when you don't even want to move from bed, but the road calls. I went for a run—a few kilometers to clear the mind—even with my headphones dead. My thoughts drifted back to the Takanakuy arena. I remembered a particularly comical fight: a young man, super "sobrado" (arrogant), acting as if he owned the world. He wasn't very athletic, just lean and experienced. On the other side, a heavier man with a gaze that could devour you.

The fight began, and the young man made the worst mistake you can make in battle: throwing punches with his eyes closed. He lacked experience and got caught in the exchange. Technologically, this project is teaching me patience. My camera's buffer ran out during the most critical moments. Just when the hit was about to land, the burst ended. It was a learning experience to know exactly when to hit the shutter. I’m only on fight number five, and there are about 60 more left, including the Warmis (women) fights, which are even more intense.

I’m also evolving my aesthetic. I’m now leaning toward a Positive Film look—organic grain that removes the flat digital modern look. I even want to enter the arena next year—not for trouble, but to live the emotion of the fight and end it with a hug and a beer. I love this B&W space; finding this community has been the best thing in my life.

Domingo por la mañana. De esos días en los que no quieres ni moverte de la cama, pero toca salir a correr; unos kilómetros para la depresión, aunque mis audífonos no tengan batería. Así que mi mente volvió a la arena del Takanakuy. Recordé una pelea cómica: un chico súper "sobrado", creyéndose el dueño del mundo. No se le veía atlético, pero sí marcado y con experiencia. Al frente, un hombre con un poco más de sobrepeso, pero con una mirada que te comía vivo.

La pelea empezó y el joven cometió el peor error: lanzar golpes con los ojos cerrados. No tenía experiencia y se lo llevaron de encuentro. Técnicamente, este proyecto me está enseñando paciencia. El buffer de mi cámara se llenó en los momentos más críticos. A veces, cuando el golpe iba a caer, la ráfaga se había terminado y tenía que esperar a que carguen las fotos. Me sirvió de experiencia para saber en qué momento exacto disparar. Recién voy en la pelea cinco y me faltan como 60 más; se vienen las de las Warmis (mujeres), que son más intensas.

También estoy analizando mi estilo; ahora busco un look de "Positive Film" con grano fino para quitarle lo plano a lo moderno digital. Incluso tengo ganas de entrar a la arena el próximo año, no por problemas, sino por vivir la emoción de la disputa y terminar con un abrazo y una cerveza. Los quiero mucho; encontrar esta comunidad de blanco y negro ha sido lo mejor que me ha pasado.
