Hello friends of the Black and White community and MonoMad, here I am one more day bringing you a part of my Takanakuy documentary. On this occasion, I present to you the battle of the kicks. Since I arrived, one of the guys who caught my attention the most was the one with long curly hair. He looked like a boxer, always moving, very calm, and focused. He was like my "winning horse"; I analyzed him a lot and eagerly awaited his fight.

On the other side was his opponent, whom I didn't recognize until the bout started because he always kept his mask on. Honestly, he surprised me; his victory was overwhelming thanks to a flawless kicking technique. Due to all the fast movement, the referee kept getting in my frame, but the masked fighter completely disabled my favorite, who I thought was a great fighter. Anyway, both looked athletic and sturdy, but sometimes appearances can be deceiving. So here I leave you with a series of the 8 best shots I took of this fight.

I feel like I might be oversaturating a bit with this topic, but what has helped me the most from uploading so many posts (around 20 or 21 already) is that it's acting as a filter to select the best photos for my documentary series. This is a project I plan to develop over several years, since this was just my first test run. I had never attended an event like this, so I didn't know exactly where to position myself or what shutter speeds to use.

I would have liked to work with a telephoto lens for tighter shots, and also use a 35mm or 50mm at the beginning to get better portraits. I stuck to using my 24-70mm and I don't regret it; I think it's a very versatile lens for documentary work. It allows me to vary focal lengths easily, though sometimes the 70mm just wasn't enough to capture all the distant details.

Anyway, the Takanakuy series is coming to an end soon. There are still a few very cool fights left that I hope you'll like; this one was definitely one of my favorites. Happy Monday! Hola amigos de la comunidad en Blanco y Negro y MonoMad, un día más trayéndoles parte de mi documental de Takanakuy. En esta ocasión, les presento la batalla de las patadas. Desde que llegué, uno de los muchachos que más me llamó la atención fue el chico de cabello largo y rulos. Tenía pinta de boxeador, siempre moviéndose, muy ecuánime, tranquilo y concentrado. Era como mi "caballo ganador"; lo analicé bastante y esperaba con ansias su pelea.

Por otro lado estaba su oponente, a quien no reconocí hasta que empezó el combate porque siempre estuvo con su máscara. Me sorprendió la verdad; su victoria fue avasalladora gracias a una técnica de patadas impecable. Por el exceso de movimiento rápido se me cruzaba mucho el árbitro en el encuadre, pero el enmascarado inhabilitó totalmente a mi favorito, a quien yo consideraba un gran luchador. De todas maneras, ambos se veían fornidos y atléticos, pero a veces las apariencias engañan. Así que acá les dejo la serie con las ocho mejores tomas que saqué de esta pelea.

Siento que tal vez estoy saturando un poco con el tema, pero lo que más me ha servido de subir tantos posts (ya van como 20 o 21) es que me ayuda a escoger las mejores fotos para mi serie documental final. Este es un proyecto que pienso desarrollar durante varios años, ya que esta fue solo la primera prueba. Nunca había ido a un evento así, no sabía bien cómo ubicarme ni las velocidades exactas que debía usar.

Me hubiera gustado trabajar con un teleobjetivo para hacer tomas más cerradas, y también haber utilizado un 35mm o 50mm al principio para sacar mejores retratos. Me limité a usar el 24-70mm y no me arrepiento, creo que es un lente muy versátil para hacer documental. Me permite variar distancias focales rápido, aunque a veces los 70mm no eran suficientes para captar ciertos detalles de lejos.

Pero bueno, ya pronto se termina la serie de Takanakuy. Vienen todavía unas cuantas peleas muy chéveres que espero les gusten; esta fue definitivamente una de mis favoritas. ¡Feliz lunes!
