The brutality of the fights in Takanakuy is intense, where experience and inexperience mix in the same place. Adults who already know the field come prepared, even wearing soccer cleats, eyes wide open, always watching the opponent without blinking, waiting for the exact moment to land the first blowmore strategic fights. Meanwhile, on the other side, enthusiastic young men, consumed by nerves, enter the field with an air of greatness while dying of fear inside. They throw punches without thinking, closing their eyes and hoping to connect, their fear forcing them to shut their eyes as if they’re already expecting to be hit. It is very peculiar how I begin to analyze each fight differently, with more attention when reviewing my photos. I’m gaining more experience for the next time; I know what to observe and what to pay attention to. I hope to make this project something great and document this festival for many years so that it remains in the memory of many.

La brutalidad de las peleas en el Takanakuy es muy fuerte, donde se mezcla la experiencia y la inexperiencia en un mismo lugar. Adultos que ya conocen el campo van preparados hasta con botines de fútbol, ojos bien abiertos siempre mirando al oponente sin parpadear, esperando el momento exacto para lanzar el primer golpe; peleas más estratégicas. Mientras, por otro lado, los jóvenes entusiastas, comidos por los nervios, entran al campo con aires de grandeza y por dentro están muriendo de miedo. Lanzan golpes sin pensar, cerrando los ojos esperando conectar algunos, y el miedo los hace cerrar los ojos creyendo que serán conectados. Es muy peculiar cómo empiezo a analizar cada pelea de una manera diferente, con más atención al revisar mis fotos. Empiezo a coger más experiencia para la siguiente: sé qué más observar, a qué prestarle atención. Espero hacer de este proyecto algo grande y poder documentar muchos años esta fiesta para que sea algo que quede en la memoria de muchos.
