Surviving the Streets / Sobreviviendo en las Calles

These days I’ve been paying closer attention to what happens in the streets. I always see someone asking for a few coins, surviving in difficult and precarious situations. Street vendors looking around in fear, hoping a city officer doesn’t show up to take away the little they have to sell. People moving from one place to another, lost in their routines.

And me, now with a different perspective, documenting everything around me. Without meaning to, my photos are making me more aware and more grateful. I also want to show what everyday life truly looks like, the things we often ignore. We drown in problems that feel impossible to solve, when there’s always a way to turn things around.

I’ve realized my photography can do that: inspire reflection, empathy, and even become a way to help those who need it most. During this Christmas season, it’s always good to share smiles. It doesn’t have to be something material sometimes a hug or a five-minute conversation is more than enough. Small gestures that truly make a difference.

Sobreviviendo en las Calles / Surviving the Streets

Estos días he estado observando más de cerca lo que pasa en las calles. Siempre veo a alguien necesitando unas monedas, sobreviviendo en situaciones precarias. Vendedores ambulantes que, con miedo, miran a todos lados esperando que no aparezca algún municipal que les quite lo poco que tienen para vender. Personas yendo de un lado a otro, perdidas en su rutina.

Y yo, ahora con otra mirada, documentando todo lo que me rodea. Sin querer, mis fotografías me están haciendo generar un poco más de conciencia y, al mismo tiempo, sentirme más agradecido. También quiero mostrar lo que realmente es el día a día, aquello que muchas veces ignoramos. Vivimos sumergidos en problemas que creemos imposibles de resolver, cuando siempre hay una forma de darle la vuelta a ese tropiezo.

Me he dado cuenta de que mis fotos pueden generar eso: reflexión, empatía, y hasta una forma de ayudar a quienes más lo necesitan. En este mes navideño, siempre es bueno regalar sonrisas; no hace falta algo material. A veces un abrazo o cinco minutos de una charla sincera son más que suficientes. Son pequeños gestos que suman y pueden mejorar mucho el día de alguien.
