San Pedro Market: The Dawn of the "Levanta Muertos" / El Despertar del Caldo de Gallina en San Pedro [Eng-Esp]

Hello, my dear friends…..

Before San Pedro Market fully wakes up, the Caldo de Gallina is already boiling. This is one of the most popular soups in Peru and the Andes, famously known as the "levanta muertos" (dead-raiser) because it’s said to cure anything from a heavy hangover to a common cold.

The fluorescent light turns the stall into a small stage amidst the market's early morning darkness. Those waiting for their plates are almost lost in the deep shadows. I took advantage of this atmosphere to use it as framing; I positioned myself behind a stall that wasn't open yet, and everything clicked to achieve this shot. I hope I have captured the essence of this ritual in the best possible way.

Hola mis queridos amigos..

Antes de que el mercado de San Pedro despierte por completo, el caldo de gallina ya está hirviendo. Es uno de los platos más populares del Perú y de los Andes, el famoso "levanta muertos", conocido por curar desde una resaca hasta un resfriado.

La luz fluorescente convierte el puesto en un pequeño escenario dentro de la oscuridad del mercado. Quienes esperan sentados sus platos se pierden entre las sombras. Aproveché todo este entorno para trabajar el framing; me ubiqué detrás de un puesto que aún no estaba abierto y todo encajó perfectamente para lograr esta fotografía. Espero haber podido transmitir este momento de la mejor manera.
