Hello friends of the Black and White community and MonoMad. I am ending the week on a quiet Sunday, watching some football on TV—the team I am a fan of here in my country is playing. I took advantage of halftime to go out for a walk with my dog, Kora, and dictate this text. It's much easier for me to transcribe my thoughts this way!

Today I bring you another series of photos taken on my way to run errands. I went out for a bit at night to pick up some important documents and my attention was caught by a street vendor selling snacks. I don't know what you call them in your countries, but here we call it canchita (popcorn), and they also sell camote (sweet potato chips) and chifles (plantain chips). They are artisanal, non-industrial snacks. One might think they are healthier, though sometimes the frying oil is a bit recycled, but well, that's street food for you!

Speaking about my photographic work, with this series I am trying to narrate a story. I realize how capturing these moments has become a way of documenting how we live in Lima and in my country. I would love to have the time and financial freedom to travel more; I feel my photography would flow even better. My studies are taking up a lot of my time and budget right now, but I love what I do.

The other day I was analyzing how street photography blends with photojournalism. Building a documentary is a long job that takes months or years. I am gathering all the photographs I have of the buses and the streets—it's almost been a year of shooting! They help show how things evolve, for better or worse. Anyway, I leave you with this series, I hope you like it. I won't drag this on because my walk with Kora is over and it's time to go home for the second half of the game!

Hola amigos de la comunidad en Blanco y Negro y MonoMad. Acá terminando la semana en un domingo tranquilo, viendo un poco de fútbol en la TV (está jugando el equipo del que soy fanático en mi país). Aproveché el entretiempo para salir a caminar con mi perrita, Kora, y poder dictar este texto. ¡Se me hace mucho más fácil fluir mis ideas así!

Hoy les traigo otra serie de fotos que tomo en el camino a donde tenga que ir. Había salido de noche un rato a recoger unos documentos importantes y me llamó mucho la atención una persona que vendía snacks callejeros. No sé cómo le llamarán en sus países, pero acá en Perú le decimos "canchita", y también venden camote y chifles (que son hojuelas de plátano frito). Son snacks hechos de manera artesanal, no industrial. Uno pensaría que son más sanos, aunque a veces el aceite que usan ya está un poco reciclado... pero en fin, ¡es parte de la calle!

Hablando ya del trabajo fotográfico, con esta serie intento narrar una historia. Me voy dando cuenta de cómo, poco a poco, captar estos momentos se convierte en una forma de documentar cómo vivimos en Lima y en mi país. Me gustaría mucho tener el tiempo y la tranquilidad económica para viajar un poco más; siento que ahí mi fotografía empezaría a fluir mucho mejor. Ahora mismo los estudios me están absorbiendo mucho tiempo y dinero, pero me encanta lo que hago.

El otro día analizaba cómo la fotografía de calle se mezcla un poco con la periodística. Trabajar en un documental es una labor larga, de meses o años; estoy juntando todas las fotografías que tengo de los buses y de las calles, ¡ya casi se va a cumplir un año! Sirven para ver cómo evolucionan las cosas, para bien o para mal. Bueno, los dejo con esta serie, espero que les guste. No me explayo más porque ya terminé el paseo con Kora y es hora de volver a casa a ver el segundo tiempo.
