Lima’s Faces: The "Jalador" of Puente Primavera / Rostros de Lima: El Jalador de Puente Primavera

Lima is very peculiar; it has many ethnicities and people from many countries who arrived in Peru, and that draws me to take street portraits. Another thing is that we find elderly people working at whatever they can. The day I went out to Puente Primavera, I stayed there for a long time with my camera, contemplating and waiting for moments. One character captured my sight: his youthful look with his glasses and his cap—he was a "jalador" (people who help fill the buses for a small tip). He was a man in his 70s, a genius; his charisma was everything. He wasn't bothered at all that I took photos; he kept doing his thing. Sometimes others get upset or tell you to get lost, but I’ve learned to lose the fear of what people will say. So, this time I leave you some portraits of my photographic outing. I look forward to your comments and critiques of my work.

Lima es muy peculiar; tiene muchas etnias, gente de muchos países que llegaron al Perú, y eso me llama mucho a sacar retratos en la calle. Otra de las cosas es que encontramos gente de edad trabajando de lo que puedan. El día que salí por el Puente Primavera me quedé mucho rato ahí con mi cámara contemplando y esperando momentos, y un personaje se apoderó de mi vista: su look de joven con sus lentes, su gorra... y era un "jalador" (personas que ayudan a llenar los micros y reciben un sencillo). Era un señor que tendría sus 70 años, un genio; su carisma y todo, no le molestó nada que le saque fotos, él seguía en lo suyo. A veces otros se molestan o te mandan a rodar, igual ya aprendí a perder el miedo al qué dirán. Así que esta ocasión les dejo unos retratos de mi salida fotográfica. Espero sus comentarios y críticas sobre mi trabajo.
