Hello, dear Black and White community!

A few days ago, I had my second photo session. It was my final test to complete the course. There’s always a bit of nervousness, but after my first session with Dani, I felt more confident.

This time, I was going to work with a model I didn’t know, and I was going to be given random props. I started by setting up the studio. I didn’t really plan the photoshoot concept because I didn’t even know how the model would be dressed. The only thing I knew was that the background would be white.

I used three studio flashes: one main light with a 140cm octabox, another softbox for fill light with a softer tone, and one more flash as a backlight.

There were five students, and I was the first to shoot. The model arrived, and I broke the ice. It’s important to make the model feel comfortable and confident. I introduced myself in the most friendly and respectful way I could, and after seeing her outfit, I explained what I was aiming for: mostly close-ups with a slightly flirty attitude toward the camera.

They gave me some glasses and a tie, so I started with those. Then I was handed a magazine, and even a handycam. I kept directing her, and she had great control in front of the camera, so she understood exactly what I wanted.

The photo I liked the most was when they gave me some newspapers. I asked my classmates to throw them into the air so I could freeze them in motion with the flash and I got a shot I really loved.

And with that, I finished this adventure of learning studio photography. Even though it was a short course, I absorbed as much as I could. When you truly enjoy something, you give it your all, and everything becomes easier.

I’m happy with the results.
Now I’m moving on to food and product photography, which is the next part of the course, and I hope you enjoy what’s coming next.

¡Hola, querida comunidad en Blanco y Negro!

Hace unos días pasé por mi segunda sesión fotográfica. Era mi prueba final para terminar el curso. Siempre hay un poquito de nervios, pero después de haber tenido mi primera sesión con Dani, ya me sentía más confiado.

Esta vez iba a trabajar con una modelo que no conocía, y me iban a entregar accesorios aleatorios. Primero armé el set. No pensé mucho en el guion fotográfico, porque no sabía ni cómo iba vestida la modelo. Lo único que tenía claro era que el fondo sería blanco.

Usé tres flashes de estudio: uno principal con un octabox de 140 cm, otro softbox como luz de relleno más suave, y un último flash para el fondo.

Éramos cinco alumnos, y me tocó ser el primero. Llegó la modelo, y a romper el hielo. Es importante entregarle confianza y hacer que se sienta cómoda. Me presenté de forma amable y respetuosa, y al ver su vestimenta, le expliqué lo que buscaba: primeros planos y una mirada un poco coqueta a cámara.

Me entregaron unos lentes y una corbata, así que empecé con eso. Luego una revista, hasta una handycam. Fui dirigiéndola, y ella tenía bastante control escénico, así que captaba bien lo que le pedía.

La foto que más me gustó fue cuando me dieron unos periódicos. Le pedí a mis compañeros que los lanzaran al aire, para congelarlos con el flash, y salió una toma que me encantó.

Con eso terminé esta aventura de aprender fotografía de estudio. Aunque haya sido un curso rápido, absorbí todo el conocimiento posible. Cuando algo te gusta, lo entregas todo y se vuelve más fácil.

Estoy contento con los resultados. Ahora se vienen fotos de alimentos y productos, que es la siguiente parte del curso, y espero que también sean de su agrado.
