City Ant

Hello dear Black and White community,

Street Documentary — Lima

Walking through the city means carrying its weight on your back: its noise, its rhythm, its rush. Between buses, avenues, markets, cold and crowded sidewalks, thousands of people hold the day together with sweat and silence. Work, traffic, exhaustion; the same story repeated in different corners.

In these difficult social, political, and emotional times, street photography allows me to capture what many ignore: lost gazes, disconnection, fatigue, but also the strength of those who keep moving forward.

Inspired by these anonymous faces, I leave this poem:

I am the city, its stone and skin.
Twelve hours a day I hold it with sweat;
when the sun falls, I wait for the bus
with a sad gaze, because the dream is always someone else’s.

I am the city, its stone, its skin,
and I fertilize the sidewalk with my life.
God is not on my corner,
nor is the law,
but I have my breath
and nothing can take it from me.

Just a city ant,
playing a game
I cannot win.

Sometimes that’s what we are: small pieces inside a massive system. But every gaze and every story deserves to be seen, heard, and never judged.

Thanks for being part of this ongoing #MonoMad Challenge adventure!

Hormiga de Ciudad

Documental Callejero — Lima

Doce horas al día las sostengo con sudor;

Excellent series, it essentially shows the weight you're talking about for everyone who makes up the streets, of course, each and every one of those people.

Thank you so much for your comment.
I enjoy showing the real streets, just the way they’ve always been.
