Capturing Speed: A Downhill Morning in La Molina

Today I want to share an experience that pushed me to the edge one of those adventures I truly enjoy. Everything that involves extreme sports and mountains holds a very special place in my heart. This time, I had the chance to join my good friend Arturo, better known as “El Cholo,” a passionate downhill biker.

I live right at the foot of Cerro Centinela, located in the district of La Molina, in the eastern part of Lima, Peru. This mountain has become a popular spot for mountain bikers and downhill riders, known for its dusty, steep trails full of adrenaline and challenge.

Arturo asked me to take some shots of him as he descended the mountain. Without hesitation, I grabbed my camera and joined him. It was a morning filled with energy, dust in the air, and pure excitement. Each shot aimed to capture the strength, speed, adrenaline, risk, and the wild, free spirit that this sport represents.

I truly enjoyed capturing action portraits freezing those unique moments that tell a story on their own. I realized that photography allows me to express emotions I sometimes can’t put into words. It excites me to keep exploring this path and to tell more visual stories like this one.

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una experiencia que me llevó a lo extremo, a una de esas aventuras que tanto disfruto. Todo lo que esté relacionado con el deporte extremo y las montañas tiene un lugar muy especial en mi vida. Esta vez, tuve la oportunidad de acompañar a mi buen amigo Arturo, mejor conocido como “El Cholo”, un biker apasionado del downhill.

Yo vivo justo a los pies del Cerro Centinela, ubicado en el distrito de La Molina, al este de la ciudad de Lima. Este lugar se ha convertido en un punto de encuentro para quienes practican ciclismo de montaña o downhill, por sus caminos polvorientos, empinados y llenos de adrenalina.

Arturo me pidió que le tomara unas fotos mientras descendía las rutas del cerro. Y sin pensarlo dos veces, tomé mi cámara y lo acompañé. Fue una mañana llena de energía, tierra en el aire y mucha emoción. Cada disparo buscaba capturar la fuerza, la velocidad, la asrenalina el riesgo y el espíritu libre que este deporte transmite.

Disfruté mucho hacer retratos en acción, congelar esos momentos únicos que cuentan una historia por sí solos. Me di cuenta de que a través de la fotografía puedo expresar emociones que a veces no logro decir con palabras. Me emociona seguir explorando este camino y contar más historias visuales como esta.
