Agriculture and Roots of Life / Agricultura y las Raíces de la Vida

Walking once again through my beloved Cusco, I’m reminded that agriculture is the backbone of my country and many others. Food travels for hours across long roads before reaching the city, yet those who work the land the first hands are the least rewarded and the most sacrificed. In the provinces everything remains fresh, organic, and full of life: from the earth straight to the table.

During my walks, I often meet agricultural workers, and it’s thanks to them that we have something to eat each day. Their effort deserves appreciation and gratitude. One day, when I retire, I dream of having my own garden, living sustainably, and growing my own food a difficult goal, but one I truly want to achieve.

Cusco is home to incredible biodiversity: hundreds of potato varieties, sweet potato, cassava, corn, beans, and countless organic crops grown with love on small family farms. Here I share some of the photos I captured on this trip. Wishing you all great vibes and a beautiful start to the week.

Agricultura y las Raíces de la Vida / Agriculture and the Roots of Life

Bienvenidos a un post más desde mi lugar favorito y querido del mundo: mi hermoso Cusco. La agricultura es uno de los sustentos más importantes de mi país y de muchos otros. Los alimentos viajan durante horas por carretera hasta llegar a la ciudad, pero quienes trabajan la tierra —la primera mano— son siempre los menos beneficiados y los más sacrificados. En las provincias, en cambio, todo es fresco, económico y lleno de vida: de la tierra a la mesa.

En mis caminatas siempre me encuentro con trabajadores del agro, y gracias a ellos tenemos algo que comer cada día. Su esfuerzo merece todo nuestro agradecimiento. Cuando me toque retirarme, sueño con tener mi propio huerto y vivir de manera autosostenible. No será fácil, pero es un sueño que quiero cumplir.

Cusco tiene una biodiversidad increíble: cientos de variedades de papa, camote, yuca, maíz, habas y una infinidad de vegetales y cultivos orgánicos, sembrados con amor en pequeñas chacras familiares. Aquí les comparto algunas fotos que documenté en mi viaje. Muchas buenas vibras y feliz inicio de semana.
