Sobre mí / About me

Mi nombre es Carlos Mijares, soy un joven caraqueño emprendedor al que le encanta el arte, los videojuegos, la tecnología y escritura creativa.

Desde mi infancia hasta mi adolescencia me he caracterizado por ser el amigo nerd pero amigable, es decir podía ayudar con las distintas tareas del Colegio / Universidad o Trabajo, y ser muy intenso con los temas que me gustaban, pero al mismo tiempo podía ser el que echaba broma, jugaba con sus amigos y contaba chistes. Así que, mi círculo de gente siempre ha sido muy diverso.

My name is Carlos Mijares, I am a young entrepreneur from Caracas who loves art, video games, technology and creative writing.

From my childhood to my adolescence I have been characterized by being the nerd but friendly friend, that is, I could help with the different tasks of College / University or Work, and be very intense with the topics I liked, but at the same time I could be the one who joked, played with his friends and told jokes. So, my circle of people has always been very diverse.

Los deportes aunque siempre me han gustado, nunca he sido un gran fan de los deportes convencionales, más bien soy de deportes extremos. Desde mis 6 años de edad practiqué TaekWon-Do hasta que la verdad, me aburrió el nivel competitivo, y allí le dedique el mayor tiempo posible a practicar skateboarding

Although I have always liked sports, I have never been a big fan of conventional sports, rather I am of extreme sports. From my 6 years of age I practiced TaekWon-Do until the truth is, I was bored with the competitive level, and there I spent as much time as possible to skateboarding.

Algunos de mis hobbies son dibujar, escribir cuentos o poesía, leer, jugar videojuegos y siempre que tengo la oportunidad salir a patinar lo hago sin dudarlo.

Some of my hobbies are drawing, writing stories or poetry, reading, playing video games and whenever I have the opportunity to go skating I do it without hesitation.

Sabía que mi vocación estaba dirigida hacia las humanidades desde pequeño, ya que, mis abuelas (específicamente) pero también mí familia, fueron grandes guías para cultivar en mí, el gusto por las artes, la literatura, la educación y las ciencias sociales.

I knew that my vocation was directed towards the humanities since I was a child, since my grandmothers (specifically) but also my family, were great guides to cultivate in me, the taste for the arts, literature, education and the social sciences.

De esa manera terminé estudiando Filosofía en la Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (UCAB). Allí, tuve una de las mejores experiencias formativas que he tenido, ya que, además de una gran malla curricular, pude lograr ser Presidente del Centro de Estudiantes y Consejero de Escuela, e incluso participar en agrupaciones estudiantiles como AJE-UCAB, pero sobre todas las cosas, hacer amigos únicos y tener Maestros de vida increíbles en el momento que más lo necesitaba.

That way I ended up studying Philosophy at Andrés Bello Catholic University (UCAB). There, I had one of the best training experiences I have ever had, since, in addition to a great curriculum, I was able to become President of the Student Center and School Counselor, and even participate in student groups such as AJE-UCAB, but above all, make unique friends and have incredible life teachers at the time I needed it most.

Aún estoy a la espera de terminar mi tesis y llevar con orgullo mi título de Licenciado. Sin embargo, no estudié mi carrera por una motivación laboral sino más bien personal. Las ganas de aprender a pensarme y reflexionar sobre mí mismo, me parece asombroso.

I'm still waiting to finish my thesis and proudly take my Bachelor's degree. However, I did not study my career for a work motivation but rather for personal reasons. The desire to learn to think about myself and reflect on myself seems amazing to me.

Lo que me llevó a darme cuenta de que si quería dedicarme a algo que no fuese mi carrera universitaria debía de igual forma prepararme para la vida y afrontar sus retos.

Which led me to realize that if I wanted to dedicate myself to something other than my university career, I should also prepare for life and face its challenges.

Nunca es tarde para capacitarse y aprender algo.

It's never too late to train and learn anything

La etapa universitaria también me dio la oportunidad de seguir conociendo otras ramas de mi vocación y me topé con la experiencia docente. Debo admitir que se convirtió en un horizonte importante en mi vida.

The university stage also gave me the opportunity to continue knowing other branches of my vocation and I came across teaching experience. I must admit that it became an important horizon in my life.

Dar clases fue justamente el momento en el que más entendí todo lo que había creído aprender. De hecho, por mucho tiempo de mi vida creí que realmente me dedicaría sería a la docencia, aunque estoy convencido de que nunca saldré de ese mundillo de la pedagogía y el ayudar a los demás a resolver sus dudas y de generar conocimiento.

Teaching was just the moment when I understood everything I had thought I learned the most. In fact, for a long time of my life I thought that I would really dedicate myself to teaching, although I am convinced that I will never leave that world of pedagogy and help others solve their doubts and generate knowledge.

No obstante, aunque haber sido docente en colegios para bachillerato fue un gran momento de mi carrera, me hizo darme cuenta realmente quería destacarme en mi habilidades artísticas el cual considero que son la literatura y la ilustración.

However, although having been a teacher in high school was a great moment in my career, it made me realize I really wanted to stand out in my artistic skills which I consider to be literature and illustration.

Eso fue lo que me impulso a convertirme un autodidacta disciplinado de las habilidades técnicas y tecnológicas que necesitaba para poder lograr a cabo mis metas de vida.

That's what drove me to become a disciplined self-taught of the technical and technological skills I needed to be able to achieve my life goals.

Como siempre fui un fan de la tecnología por los videojuegos, me propuse antes de llevar mi vida al mundo digital, (cosa que siempre quise) decidí por voluntad propia tener una experiencia laboral fuertemente justificada para completar todo eso que no enseñan ni en el Colegio ni en la Universidad, el cual es aprender a trabajar.

As I was always a fan of video game technology, I set out before taking my life to the digital world, (which I always wanted) I decided of my own free will to have a strongly justified work experience to complete all that they do not teach either at school or at university, which is learning to work.

Y justamente ese trayecto de crecer en un trabajo, también me hizo darme cuenta de lo importante que sería para mi vida trabajar bajo un esquema de Finanzas Descentralizadas.

And precisely that journey of growing up in a job, also made me realize how important it would be for my life to work under a Decentralized Finance scheme.

Así, con esa filosofía de descentralización, autonomía financiera y presto a aprender cosas nuevas, decidí emprender el camino en el que aún estoy de ser freelancer en las áreas de diseño y redacción.

Thus, with that philosophy of decentralization, financial autonomy and ready to learn new things, I decided to embark on the path in which I am still a freelancer in the areas of design and writing.

Considero que fue también esta evolución personal de lo que quería en mi vida junto con lo que me ofrece este ecosistema, una de mis primeras motivaciones para llegar a #Hive.

I believe that it was also this personal evolution of what I wanted in my life along with what this ecosystem offers me, one of my first motivations to get to #Hive.

Agradezco sobremanera, la suerte de toparme con @laloreto en mi camino, ella me hizo darme cuenta de lo bueno que sería ser blogger en Speakd, Ecency y otras Dapps. Inmediatamente justo luego de pensarlo y darle forma, gracias a su ayuda logré tener mi cuenta y hacer esta primera entrada a modo de presentación para todos ustedes.
