Hello friends, how are you!? I hope everything is going well, today in this post, I would like to share with you another fundamental stage of my visit to Mantua, in this beautiful city of art in Lombardy, which I definitely recommend you visit, because every time I go there I always discover new things.

In my profile you can find the first post I made which referred to my visit to Palazzo Te, a beautiful Renaissance Villa built by the famous architect Giulio Romano, but always included in the price of the €15 ticket there was the possibility of visiting the Maca museum, also called the museum of ancient collections, The fact that it is located inside a historic building that Palazzo San Sebastiano there is a Renaissance building from 1500 is already something unique and exciting, But the thing I like about these museums is the fact that in the visits Here you discover the characters who in any case have been linked in some way to the history and greatness of the city of Mantua.

In fact, this museum is linked to three people who made Mantua great but above all contributed to the cultural heritage of this city Verona I am talking about Francesco II Gonzaga, Vespasiano Gonzaga who created the ideal city of Sabbioneta which is located here near Mantua, Giuseppe Acerbi who contributed with the Egyptian coalition present inside the museum, Ugo Sissa who brought a Mesopotamian collection that today we can always visit in this museum.

In fact, in the first part I was able to see busts that were part of Vespasiano's collection, then there was an Egyptian collection because Giuseppe Acerbi was an Austrian ambassador in Egypt and therefore he was there at the time that the excavations took place, while Ugo Sissa worked for several years for the government in Baghdad and therefore collected several Mesopotamian finds.

Certainly, the thing that struck me the most was the mummy that is still preserved in excellent condition and the busts of the statues that were in excellent condition and have escaped several lootings because they were mistaken for places of little value.

In conclusion, I can say that the visit to these small museums is always very interesting because it makes you know these characters who are linked to Mantua and that perhaps many of us do not know but that it is always fascinating to know.

Thank you for reading See you next time
