Touring the Classic Trenches of Calabar at Night, Ediba Street in Marian Rd | Nigeria on WorldMappin

Wagwan guys. It's @bullishboss and today I'll be sharing a vlog on my travel experience at Marian Rd, Ediba Rd to be precise. Marian Road or Street is actually a large place that looks like a popular plaza place in Uyo. So I decided to go out with my mum to see my cousin.
Coming from Uyo all the way to Calabar is an experience I'll share separately because damn.....It was more than just an experience and my mum and I did this tour in the evening, a perfect time to visit places when the weather is warm and balanced.
In this post, I'll take you on the journey we took. Fortunately for us, there was Google maps to guide us because we knew no where in Calabar. My cousin just texted the location to my mum telling her to come over. She gave us directions though and the most known direction was that we should board a Bus from;

It was no small distance to be sincere. We boarded a Bus to technical junction. The bus driver alighted us at the junction where we have this sculpture globe of cross river state. Trust me. I take pictures of any beautiful landmark I see. It was to my surprise that Calabar buses are Blue and White. Back it Uyo, it's actually Orange and Black. It's the beauty sha. Uyo is beautiful with orange and the orange colour isn't strange compared to the white and blue. We had funny moments trying to board a bus so we won't get cheated.

After the driver alighted us at the junction, we crossed over to the other lane and entered any Bus we saw without asking questions because they were rushing us to enter. We just felt maybe these buses are going to Marian Rd, Ediba. After balancing on the soft chair of the bus, the driver asked us where we would alight. My mum replied Ediba. He took us out of the Bus to another Bus that was going that direction.
The bus going to Ediba told my mum she would pay #800 naira did two people. My mum was like; It's 400 naira I'm with for two people. The Bus driver took off without saying a word. It was funny though. We didn't want to be cheated as well.

We then knew at some point that the #400 naira was a fixed price. We boarded and used a map to Marian Rd, Ediba. Marian Rd is where we alighted while Ediba is the street along Marian Rd. That's the instructions we were given from the direction sent by my cousin. I took pictures of their bus stop. It looks different and beautiful though it doesn't come with a chair. Entering the street of Ediba was new to us because it was just the name of the streets we were given and not the routes.

Ediba is more like a quiet place but looks local to me. We used a map that would direct us to Omon Inok Street as my cousin delayed to come and get us. Life in Ediba from what I saw was beautiful. People were just happy and content with their means. It wasn't that noisy and the buildings were dilapidated to show how old it was. I got children playing ball on the road which reminded me of the time I was of their age. I did nothing different.

My mum found it difficult to pronounce the names if these streets. Finally, we got to no.8 Okon inok Street and called on to her. She told us to give us some time and my mum doesn't like waiting. We entered a nearly sit-out called Olabonus. This place is a laundry store. Luckily for me, I took my clothes with me since I was looking for a good laundry man to press my clothes for my sister's induction the next day. It's been long I saw such a beautiful laundry place.

The laundry man charged me a thousand naira to iron 3 clothes. I was impressed that the price hasn't really gone up as I had thought.

My cousins came though I didn't know them even after my mum introduced them. I was happy that I had a rich cousin who was capable of taking us out for a drink. We went to vanel bar which is close to the hotel itself.

It surprises me to see that Calabar has beautiful bars, way more beautiful than those in Uyo in rural areas. I felt like capturing everything. The interior was well lit. They even have VIP sections for adults who want to go deeper in the lounge or who want exclusive treatment. Much more of a privacy. You know rich men don't like being seen with common people 😁. We had our seats and ordered drinks from their menu.

Their menu is a standard menu, more like what a luxurious bar would offer. I ordered my best drink Star radler. I don't do more than a bottle because I didn't want to get high. My cousins said they could gulp down 10 bottles without being affected.

We had quality time conversing and getting to know certain things in calabar. While we were talking, my female cousin ordered an Isi Ewu from them, a pot. Guess the price? #8k

This is actually the cheapest price I've seen since the price of a goat skyrocketed except I've not been to places that offer less. The taste was different. It's been long I ate such a delicacy. Trust me and food outside. I'll eat as if I'm a foodie. I ate the meat to my satisfaction and the fact that it was extremely hot got me real good. My sister came along and joined us. She came with her friend before bidding them goodnight.

It was really a long night. At about 8:30pm, we left the bar and headed home but we didn't see a Bus directly to technical. We had to enter parliamentary Bus to Army Junction and from there, we got back home.
