My participation in the Reflection Hunters Contest - Round #217: Reflections of an overcast sky through a pond full of life! [Eng/Esp]

Hello again Shadow Hunters community! We are facing the last week of April and the beginning of May, that is, we are almost halfway through the year! I hope that your goals for 2025 are on the right track. For my part, my goals at hive are going full steam ahead, although I can't say the same for my formal job. However, I wanted to start the week by sharing with you my participation in the Reflection Hunters contest round #217 with a photograph that I loved from every point of view and it is about the reflection in a pond.

Several circumstances led me to this wonderful place. I work at a university and have to teach lab practices. Unfortunately, we don't have all the necessary supplies, so I have to request them from other labs that aren't used for teaching, but rather for research. That led me to the Institute of Tropical Zoology to try to get some distilled water, and while they were giving it to me, I had time to contemplate the institute's large pond, full of aquatic plants and, of course, fish. I love coming here because the institute isn't covered by a roof, so you can enjoy a spectacular reflection of the sky in this pond.

Believe it or not, there's a complex food web here. We have aquatic plants and phytoplankton that feed on sunlight. These are then eaten by small fish, and then preyed upon by the larger fish you can see in the photo. The food web doesn't end there, as these large fish are preyed upon by a large grey heron that occasionally passes by the pond to eat the larger ones. As you can see there are already 2 fairly large fish, the black one is the ugliest and kept looking at me, but fortunately the beautiful orange fish passed by and just at that moment I took the photograph that reflected the sky, which at that moment was cloudy.

With this, I conclude my participation in this great contest, friends. I hope you enjoyed it. One of the most beautiful things for me is contemplating the sky and sunsets. Hola de nuevo comunidad de Shadow Hunters! Estamos ante la última semana del mes de abril y comienzo de Mayo, es decir ya casi estamos a mitad de año! Espero que sus metas de este 2025 estén bien encaminados, por mi parte mis metas en hive están viento en popa aunque no puedo decir lo mismo en mi trabajo formal. No obstante, he querido empezar la semana compartiéndoles mi participación en el concurso de Reflection Hunters round #217 con una fotografía que me ha encantado desde todo punto de vista y se trata del reflejo en un estanque.

Varias circunstancias me llevaron a este maravilloso lugar, trabajo en una universidad y me toca dar prácticas de laboratorio, lamentablemente no tenemos todos los insumos, por lo que tengo que solicitarlos en otros laboratorios que no son de docencia, sino de investigación. Eso me llevo al Instituto de Zoología Tropical para tratar de conseguir agua destilada y mientras me la daban tuve tiempo de contemplar el gran estanque que hay en este instituto, lleno de plantas acuáticas y por supuesto de peces. Me encanta venir a este lugar ya que el instituto no esta cubierto por un techo, así que puedes tener un reflejo espectacular del cielo que se refleja en este estanque.

Aunque no lo creas en este sitio existe una compleja trama trófica, tenemos las plantas acuáticas y fitoplancton que se alimentan de la luz solar, luego éstos son el alimento de los peces pequeños y luego son depredados por los peces más grandes que puedes ver en la foto. La trama trófica no se cierra aquí, pues estos peces grandes son presas de una gran garza real que de vez en cuando pasa por el estanque para comerse a los más grandes. Como puedes ver ya hay 2 peces bastante grandes, el negro es el más feo y no dejaba de mirarme, pero afortunadamente paso el bello pez naranja y justo en ese momento tomé la fotografía que reflejaba el cielo que para ese momento estaba nublado.

Con esto concluyo mi participación en este gran concurso amigos, espero que les haya gustado. Una de las cosas más hermosas para mi es contemplar el cielo y las puestas de sol, en este caso me pareció ideal capturar un reflejo del cielo en este estanque al mismo tiempo que se veían los 2 peces.
