My participation in the Phone Photography Contest! - #84: A visit to the cathedral of the canonized saint José Gregorio Hernández [Eng/Esp]
Hello friends of Feel Good and Hivers! I welcome you to my participation in round #84 of the phonography contest, this last week of October. Although I understand that many are celebrating Halloween, for us here in Venezuela, these days have coincided with a major event: the canonization of José Gregorio Hernández, the first saint of Venezuela. I decided to visit the cathedral where his remains are located and wanted to share the moment with you.
I had previously talked about the history of this wonderful cathedral from the outside, but today I'm bringing you its striking interior. Rather than talking about the history of the cathedral, I'll tell you why that day was so important for us. This now saint is credited with many miracles! In life, he was a doctor and dedicated himself to caring for the poorest. When he died at the beginning of the 20th century, manifestations and miracles immediately began to be reported. Therefore, in 1949, the process of his canonization began in the Vatican. Last week, we were surprised with the news that after 76 years, our long wait is over and we have the first Venezuelan saint.

The interior of the church was renovated for the occasion, and a commemorative statue was made and placed on the altar. People live their faith intensely, and it could be felt on every wall, every stained-glass window, and every candle lit by the faithful. That was the reason I wanted to take photos and bring them to you. I wanted to convey, in some way, the solemnity and faith of this unique moment for us.
Well, friends, I hope you enjoyed my contribution to this Phonography contest. I truly enjoyed capturing these moments of faith. In general, it's something that cuts across the entire global south, I'd say, where we live faith intensely. This achievement of faith in all Venezuelans is something worth sharing. Hola amigos de Feel Good y Hivers! Les doy la bienvenida a mi participación en el round #84 del concurso de phonography, esta última semana del mes de Octubre y aunque entiendo que muchos están celebrando halloween, para nosotros aquí en Venezuela, estos días han coincidido con un gran evento para nosotros aquí y es la canonización de José Gregorio Hernández el primer santo de Venezuela y decidí visitar la catedral donde se encuentran sus restos mortales y quise compartir el momento con ustedes.
Anteriormente había hablado de la historia de esta maravillosa catedral desde su exterior, pero hoy te traigo su impactante interior y más que hablar de la historia de la catedral te comentaré porque ese día fue tan importante para nosotros. Este ahora santo se le atribuyen muchos milagros! En vida, era médico y se dedicaba a cuidar de los más pobres y al morir a comienzos del siglo XX inmediatamente comenzaron a reportarse manifestaciones y milagros, por lo que desde 1949 comenzó el proceso de su canonización en el Vaticano y la semana pasada fuimos sorprendidos con la noticia que después de 76 años nuestra larga espera ha terminado y tenemos al primer santo venezolano.

El interior del templo fue rehabilitado para la ocasión y una estatua conmemorativa fue realizada y puesta en el altar, la gente vive intensamente la fe y podía sentirse en cada muro, cada vitral y cada vela encendida por los creyentes, esa fue la razón por la que quise tomarle fotos y traérselas, quería en cierta forma transmitirles la solemnidad y la fe de este momento único para nosotros.
Y bien amigos espero que les haya gustado mi aporte al presente concurso de Phonography, la verdad que disfrute bastante capturar estos momentos de la fe, en general es algo transversal yo diría que para todo el sur global que vivimos la fe de forma intensa y este logro de la fe en todos los venezolanos es algo digno de compartirse.
