My lily blooms, always capricious

This lily came to me from my botanist friends in eastern Venezuela. It was a long spike that I spent over a year watering and fertilizing, but it never seemed to bloom. And just today, Palm Sunday, it finally decided to bloom in all its splendor. I definitely understand it less and less.
