My #BeerSaturday Challenge! - Accompanying my lunch with a cold Tovar Pilsen beer! [Eng/Esp]
Hello friends of Beer! Welcome to my contribution to this week's #BeerSaturday Challenge. As we've been doing since week, today we're continuing our series on Tovar craft beers, a beer from a microbrewery in Colonia Tovar, a little piece of Germany within Venezuela, whose craft beer initiative has become very popular in the last decade. But first, and following the tradition of this challenge, I want to nominate my esteemed friend @newenx to share a local beer with us in a review.
In my previous review, the beer I tasted was a Tovar beer, and this time I'm bringing you one of this brewery's most emblematic beers: Tovar Pilsen! This was the first craft beer with which I discovered this wonderful brand, back in 2018 when you couldn't find anything at all in liquor stores or corner shops. Tovar took the initiative and brought their beer to the first craft beer fair, which is where I found it. The first thing I want to highlight is a very subjective matter of nostalgia, and that's the packaging. They changed its appearance, since the original featured a Teutonic figure in traditional dress playing a horn, as if inviting us to try this beer. I loved that at the time, but now they've changed it to the silhouette of people as if they were going to work, with a sailboat in the background. Honestly, it didn't impress me as much as the previous design did.
This beer is quite affordable for a craft beer, at $1.50, and comes in a 250ml bottle, which I really appreciate because the version I tried previously was 220ml. It has an alcohol content of 5%, and as its name suggests, it's a classic German Pilsner. We opened it and poured it into our mug, and we could see its deep golden color tending towards amber. Its hop aroma, compared to the Tovar IPA, is quite moderate, accompanied by a soft sweetness of pilsner malt and cereal.

I then decided to pair it with a homemade lasagna I made on my first attempt, and although it ended up a little incomplete because it was missing some pasta, the flavor was quite good. I then took the first sip of this magnificent beer and remembered those moments when I first tried it 8 years ago! With a smooth and sweet malt entry that quickly balances with a clean and moderate noble hop bitterness, it's definitely the same beer I tasted the first time! The flavor is balanced and consistent, with a dry, crisp, and refreshing finish, ideal for pairing with these meals. If you ask me, this beer has nothing to envy in the leading commercial pilsner brands in Venezuela. Its only obstacle is scaling up production and eventually distribution, but if it's already available in the capital, reaching other parts of central-western Venezuela shouldn't be a major problem.
Well, friends, that concludes the second review of these beers for now. My rating for this beer is a solid 8.5/10. It's refreshing, its bitterness is quite mild, and its sweetness with a floral aroma makes it perfect for enjoying with meals like barbecues. Hola amigos de Beer! Sean bienvenidos a mi aporte al #BeerSaturday Challenge de esta semana, y como hemos venido reseñando desde la semana hoy vamos a dar continuidad a la serie de cervezas artesanales Tovar, una cerveza perteneciente a una microempreza en la Colonia Tovar, un pedacito de Alemania dentro de Venezuela y que en la última década se ha hecho muy popular su iniciativa de cervezas artesanales. Pero antes y soguiendo la tradición de este challenge quiero nominar a mi estimado @newenx para que nos comparta una cerveza autoctona y la comparta con nosotros en una reseña.
En mi reseña anterior la cerveza que degusté fue una Cerveza Tovar, y en esta ocasión te traigo una de las cervezas más emblemáticas de esta cervecería: La Tovar Pilsen! Esta fue la primera cerveza artesanal con la que descubrí esta maravillosa marca, por allá en el 2018 cuando no se conseguía absolutamente nada en las licorerías ni bodegones, la marca Tovar tomó iniciativa y llevó su cerveza a la primera feria de cerveza artesanal que fue donde la encontré. Lo primero que quiero destacar es una cuestión de nostalgia muy subjetiva y es la presentación, cambio su aspecto ya que la original tenía a un teutón vestido con el traje típico tocando un cuerno, como llamándonos a probar esta cerveza. Era algo que me encantó en su momento, pero ahora lo cambiaron con la silueta de personas como si fueran a la faena, y detrás un barco de velas, la verdad que no me impresionó como si lo hizo su diseño anterior.
Esta cerveza tiene un precio bastante accesible para ser artesanal, 1,5$ y su presentación es en botella de 250 mL cosa que si agradezco bastante porque la versión que probé anteriormente era de 220 mL. Su grado alcohólico es de 5% y es como su nombre lo indica es una clásica cerveza German Pils. Procedimos abrirla y servirla en nuestro tarro y podemos apreciar su color dorado intenso tendiendo a ámbar. Su aroma a lúpulo comparado al de la Tovar IPA es bastante moderado, acompañado con un dulzor suave a malta pilsner y cereal.

Decidí entonces acompañar un pasticho casero que hice en mi primer intento y aunque acabó un poco incompleto porque faltaba pasta, su sabor quedó bastante bien. Le di entonces el primer sorbo a esta magnífica cerveza y recordé aquellos momentos cuando la probé hace ya 8 años! Con una entrada suave y dulce de malta que se equilibra rápidamente con un amargor limpio y moderado de lúpulo noble, es definitivamente la misma cerveza que probé la primera vez! El sabor en boca es balanceado y uniforme, con un final seco, nítido y refrescante, ideal para acompañar estas comidas. Si me lo preguntan a mi, esta cerveza no tiene nada que envidiarle a las principales marcas Pilsen comerciales de Venezuela su único obstáculo es masificar su producción y eventualmente la distribución pero si ya es posible conseguirla en la capital no debería ser un gran problema llegar al menos a otras parte de la región centro occidental de Venezuela.
Y bien amigos, con esto termino por ahora con la segunda reseña de estas cervezas. Mi nota para esta presentación de cerveza es un sólido 8.5/10 es refrescante, su amargor es bastante suave y su dulzor con aroma floral invita a disfrutarla en comidas como asados principalmente. En definitiva una cerveza bastante recomendable si tienes la oportunidad de encontrarla, nos vemos en una futura publicación de esta serie ya que todavía nos faltan 2 presentaciones de esta marca!
