Photographer-In-Training...
This is the first half of the year, and we are already running through the sixth month like there’s no tomorrow. It’s been a rollercoaster of a year, so many ups and downs, but we’ve been pushing through.
One of the goals I set for myself was to have an upgrade in the posts I make and one way I was going to do that is to use more original pictures in my posts. For someone like me that does not take a lot of pictures, whether of myself or of anything in particular, I knew this was going to be a big ask. But I was willing to do it. I’ve seen some great writers on here take out the time to take good pictures, using them in their posts and telling their unique stories, I wanted to do all that as well.
For the first few months of the year, I tried, but I realized that the camera I was using was not giving me the kind of pictures I would gladly post on the internet. As a result, I continued to rely heavily on images from free sites like Pexels and the like.
Eventually, I made up my mind to upgrade my phone, making sure I was getting something with better camera quality. And I was not disappointed. My new phone didn’t just come with a better camera, it also came with better editing features that helped me better to create magic. It was so good that it turned an armature like me into a somewhat professional one. Note I said somewhat...🙄
And ever since I discovered this, I’ve been on a crazy trip! Anywhere I am, anything that catches my fancy, I simply take a picture of it. Sometimes, when I consider the post I’ll take later on, I go in search of the perfect spot I’ll take the pictures.
Although I know that taking pictures of trees and buildings is not really all that mega, I’ve found that it’s something I enjoy doing, a lot. Taking pictures of inanimate objects is so much more fun than having to take pictures of people. Here, you don’t have to look for the best angles and the best poses to flatter the muse. Anyway you set your camera, you could get a magnificent piece all the same!
And then, running the images through the editing software that comes with the phone, I’m able to tush it up and when people around me see the images, they’ll not even recognize that it’s their backyard I turned into such a marvel.
Well, this is one of the reasons why smartphones are so crazy. They have so many functions that it is impossible to use them for every single thing, and yet, with each model they hit the market with, they bring in even more features that we may never really use. It’s insane!
Thanks to this though, I’m a photographer-in-training. Although seeing as I’m basically training myself, I don’t know if that counts, hehe😂. It’s just another thing the Hive platform has done for me, pushing me to be better and to get better. Now, most of my posts for the last month or so have been at least 70% with original posts and many of them being 100%.
A time will come when for every post I want to make, there will be a dedicated photo shoot with yours truly behind the camera. It sounds like a load of work for a simple post, but if this passion keeps burning, I’ll definitely do it.
So, my dear friends, what do you think of my pictures so far? I would love to really know if there is something I’m doing wrong with the editing or angling, seeing how I’m hoping to get better at this. As I said earlier, I know basically nothing about taking pictures, so all this experience is new to me. If I’ve been doing something wrong, it’s been flying right over my head. But if you think I’m doing great, tell me all the same. Please share your thoughts in the comments below.
Wow congrats for the new phone. It really a big help on your blogging journey.
I am not into taking pictures too before, but when I started hive, I learned to take pictures most of the time. Its not because we need it but because we want to improve our blogging journey through taking pictures.
Indeed... we do it just to improve on what we are doing. And it's always so fulfilling.
Thank you for reading.

Firstly, we have to talk about celebrating the new phone before any other thing.
This is a huge development and I believe that this will even improve the quality of your content plus your reader will enjoy beautiful shots from your environment and trips.
The shots are great no doubt and the edit looks like pro work so I don't want to believe that you are an amateur in photography.
Hah...😂
Please believe it ooo. But you can hire me to take pictures at your wedding, I know very well how to snap cake and food😋.
Thank you very much, brother.
I can still remember that you said earlier about using original picture in your article may be in your new year goals article. It's a good thing that you are doing what you decided. And I believe that your photography skill is increasing with time.
Just trying my best to do everything I said I'll do. It's not been easy, but I'm making it work. And I'm grateful for that.
Thank you.
Many many congratulations to your new phone. Traveling in such a weather has its own fun when there are clouds in the sky and a cool breeze is blowing. Your glasses looks so beautiful.
