So, this is officially the last day of the year and boy am I psyched! Despite everything that 2023 was and wasn’t, all that is left of it right now is only a couple of hours. At least that’s for right here in Nigeria, I’m sure that in some parts of the world, some countries are already celebrating being in the New Year. Yeah, some people are still in 2024 while the rest of us are lagging in 2023.

But then, it’s something that’s unavoidable. No matter what country leads or lags in the time difference, we all are going into the New Year. Now would actually be a great time to plan out what we want for ourselves, so we’d know how everything would go.

For me, 2023 went great, I must say. I did a lot of the things I said I was gonna do, although lagged on some but I really won in other areas. Part of the goals I set for myself in 2023 included getting a new phone, and not just any phone but one with a good camera which was a crux for my other goal; to start taking original pictures. And of course, to publish my book.

I was able to achieve them all, and just in the nick of time. I’m really happy about that because if I’m being honest, nothing about any of it was easy. But now, I’ve come to a point where many of those things don’t touch me and they’ve become habitual for me so they all seem easy.

But then, on the flip side, there are some things I said I was going to do this year that I’ve not made a significant impact on and I hope to focus on them next year. Chief of this is my vlogging journey. I started it way too late for comfort, and when I started I only did a few videos before exams came along and swept me away. By the time the exams were over, I was too lazy to even attempt to resume. So yeah, all that is on me.

If school wasn’t so stressful, it wouldn’t be so hard to keep track of everything. I wanted to also improve my social media presence, but I sucked at that. Because between work and school, I could barely make time to even chat, and that really affected the achieving of my goals.

There are quite a number of them, but there’s no need to bore you with the details. All that matters right now is that I’m not gonna let the things I didn’t do stop me from appreciating the ones I did do. Because if I’m being honest, I did enough to be impressive.

So, do I have goals for the New Year? Of course, and this time I’ll go bigger! My goals will include everything I didn’t achieve this year, and then also to publish two books next year. If I could do one this year, I’m certain I can do two next year! And that’s my goal. One book that’s a sequel in my ongoing saga, which I hope will be published by the middle of 2024, and then a stand-alone Christmas-themed thriller that will be published during the holidays.

It’s gonna be an eventful year. I’m certain of that. There’s so much that can happen and so much for us to look forward to, it’s hard not to just be optimistic. Anyway, I’m happy with the way the year turned out, and I’m sure that the year 2024 will end up being better.
