Art Is Not Easy...
Have you noticed how both the quality of art and how we view it has reduced over the years? Especially in this particular time and age, true art is not really appreciated or rewarded anymore the way it used to be in the past. We can tell this just by the kind of music that is mainstream, the arts in our galleries and what have you.
These days, companies that are invested in the business of art focus more on making as much profit as possible and as a result, they do not look for real talent. Instead, they search for people with some sort of social media presence already so as to make the job easier for them. Meanwhile, the good ones without much presence get ignored.
Or can one seriously say that we no longer have great artists like Michelangelo in the world today? What about Leonardo Da Vinci? Don’t we have people who can be as creative and talented as him in today’s world? Like, in a world of seven billion people, not even one? Please…
Back then, art was real and it was a way by which the artists told their stories. You don’t have to be an art aficionado to understand what they were trying to say. Hell, even a child can look upon a simple painting and tell right away the message the artist was trying to pass along. It’s such a form of art that has been passed down over the years, people study them as a course now in schools, and the artists will never be forgotten because they are carved into the walls of history.
But today? Anything is art. Someone can just throw different colors of paint on canvas, give it a fancy name and call it art. When you study these things, you’ll be confused because you have no idea what you’re looking at. And funny enough, there will be analysts who will always have something to say, explaining every stroke of the brush and trying to get into the mind of the artist.
Artists like this, because they have a huge following on social media, get all the patronage and airtime. That’s all it boils down to these days. Real art is never easy, whether it’s writing, drawing, or even singing. No matter what it is, as long as it’s something creative that has to do with a lot of brainwork, it’s not easy. That’s why one person can only have so much talent. If it were so easy, then every single person would be earning solely from their talents.
I know that art is subjective, the way it speaks to one person is different from the way it speaks to someone else. That’s why not everyone sees the wisdom in paying millions of dollars for the painting of some woman who doesn’t even exist. However, even novices and people not involved in the art world would see the painting and recognize it as a good work of art. But then, since it’s subjective, there may be people that these modern forms of art speak to and I’ll like to hope that it has a clear message for them.
This post does not imply that modern artists are not talented or anything, instead I’m just saying that in favor of more money and popularity, creativity is allowed to suffer a huge blow. And one can only hope that this trend stops soon because if it gets any worse…
Well, it just shouldn’t.

I guess more people nowadays are moving into digital art such as nfts. You are correct about art that it is subjective and one sees it differently. In fact, I don't understand why people would pay a lot for a single nft when we can just download that kind of photo online.
This NFT has never ceased to amaze me, but these days you have people paying for an idea or concept. Not even something tangible or solid. Well, art is versatile and it keeps getting flexible with every day that passes.
Thank you for reading.
That's true. Art is everything. Have you heard of the ai art? Is it a threat for artists?
It's sounds funny but it's the reality and I believe it very much.
Now I feel most of the artist are created for the business purposes and it means most of them are not genuine artist.
Indeed... everything is just about money these days and not everyone is bothered about quality.
It's sad.
As we are moving towards AI technology, we are ignoring the real talent of artists. This is a very painful truth in the modern area. I hope, people will respect and appreciate their natural talent. I agreed to your words, everything will be fine sooner or later regarding the talent of great artists.
