Dziś, ku naszemu zdziwieniu, była w Belgii niedziela handlowa. Szczerze mówiąc, takie kwestie niespecjalnie mnie interesują i nawet nie odnotowałem momentu, w którym wprowadzono zasadę, że pierwsza niedziela miesiąca jest handlowa. Kiedy przeprowadziłem się do Belgii, wszystkie niedziele były wolne i szybko się do tego przyzwyczaiłem; w związku z tym nie czułem potrzeby chodzenia po sklepach w dni wolne. Wspominam o tym przy okazji tej wielkanocnej niedzieli, choć my i tak nie mieliśmy w planach szwendania się po sklepach.

[ENG] To our surprise, today was a shopping Sunday in Belgium. To be honest, I’m not really interested in such things, and I didn't even notice when they introduced the rule that the first Sunday of the month is a shopping day. When I first moved to Belgium, all Sundays were work-free, and I quickly got used to that; as a result, I never felt the need to go shopping on Sundays. I’m just mentioning this in the context of this Easter Sunday, though we had no plans to wander around the shops anyway.

Po południu odwieźliśmy córkę z poświąteczną „wałówką” do Brukseli i przy okazji wybraliśmy się na krótki spacer po mieście. Początkowo pogoda trochę nas nastraszyła, bo gdy dojeżdżaliśmy do centrum, mocno rozpadało się – był to jednak tylko przelotny deszcz z niewielkiej chmury, która szybko przetoczyła się nad miastem. Czuć już wiosnę; centrum Brukseli jest pełne turystów, a Grand Place wypełniony po brzegi. Z trudem przeciskaliśmy się z jednego końca placu na drugi, dlatego szybko opuściliśmy to miejsce i wybraliśmy spacer po Parc de Bruxelles.

[ENG] In the afternoon, we drove our daughter back to Brussels with some post-holiday "care packages," and we took the opportunity to go for a short walk around the city. At first, the weather scared us a bit because it started pouring just as we were reaching the center—but it was only a brief shower from a small cloud that quickly passed over the city. You can really feel spring in the air; central Brussels is packed with tourists, and the Grand Place was overflowing. We could hardly squeeze through from one side to the other, so we quickly left and opted for a walk in Parc de Bruxelles instead.
