Dzień gospodarczy – chcieliśmy zostawić mieszkanie posprzątane przed wyjazdem na krótki urlop. Ostatnio w trakcie kilku rozmów z koleżankami i kuzynką żona usłyszała, że sprawiły one sobie roboty sprzątające. Wczoraj zasugerowała, że może my też byśmy taki kupili. Dopytałem kuzynkę, jaki ma model i czy go poleca. Znalazłem ten sam sprzęt na belgijskim Amazonie, ale cena trochę mnie ostudziła. Sprawdziłem jednak ofertę na niemieckim Amazonie – tam ten sam model kosztuje o 348 euro mniej (oszczędność rzędu 38%!). Nie mam pojęcia, skąd biorą się aż takie różnice. Gdyby nie wyjazd, zamówiłbym go od razu, ale dostawa wypadłaby w dniu naszej podróży, więc poczekam te kilka dni. Oby tylko cena się nie zmieniła.

[ENG] A "chore day" today—we wanted to leave the apartment clean before heading out for a short vacation. Recently, during several conversations with friends and a cousin, my wife heard that they had all bought robot vacuums. Yesterday, she suggested that maybe we should get one too. I asked my cousin which model she has and if she recommends it. I found the same one on the Belgian Amazon, but the price put me off a bit. However, I checked the German Amazon, and the same model is 348 euros cheaper there (a 38% difference!). I have no idea why the price gap is so huge. If it weren't for our trip, I would have ordered it already, but it would have been delivered on the day we leave, so I’ll wait a few days. I just hope the price stays the same!

Najlepsza w tym wszystkim była moja żona. Najpierw nalegała na zakup, a wieczorem, po krótkiej drzemce, stwierdziła nagle, że w sumie to żadnego robota nie potrzebujemy, bo zyskałbym na tym tylko ja. Argumentowała, że skoro robot będzie odkurzał i zmywał podłogi – czyli wykonywał moje obecne zadania – to mi zostanie już tylko wycieranie kurzów. Zawsze nachodzą ją takie dziwne przemyślenia po drzemce przed telewizorem. Na szczęście dziś odwiedziła koleżankę, zobaczyła robota w akcji i znów jest na „tak”.

At first, she insisted on buying the robot, but in the evening, after a short nap, she suddenly announced that we don't actually need one because I’d be the only one benefiting from it. Her logic was that since the robot would vacuum and mop the floors—which are my current chores—I’d be left with nothing to do but dusting. She always gets these strange "revelations" after a nap in front of the TV. Luckily, she visited a friend today, saw the robot in action, and now she’s back on board.
