Nieczęsto się zdarza, że Belgowie potrafią mnie w jakiś sposób zaskoczyć. Na wczoraj mieliśmy umówioną instalację rolet, ale w poniedziałek wieczorem zadzwonił monter, że się nie wyrobi i za kilka dni zadzwoni, żeby umówić nowy termin. Pomyślałem, że to belgijska klasyka. Tak mi to spowszedniało, że nawet się nie wkurzyłem. Rano po nocce spokojnie oddałem się w objęcia Morfeusza z przekonaniem, że nie muszę ustawiać budzika, żeby obudzić się odpowiednio wcześniej. Wstałem około południa i niespiesznie przygotowywałem sobie śniadanie, kiedy zadzwonił domofon. Okazało się, że monter, który dzień wcześniej dzwonił z informacją, że się nie pojawi, jednak się pojawił. Żona popędziła do okna w poszukiwaniu furgonetki, którą zapewne przyjechał, ale żadnej nie było. Okazało się, że prawie trzymetrową roletę przywiózł w Fiacie 500. Oczywiście wystawała przez okno pasażera jak lanca Don Kichota, ale dowiózł. Godzinę później rolety były już zamontowane na swoim miejscu.

We had an installation for our window blinds scheduled for yesterday, but on Monday evening, the installer called to say he wouldn't make it and would call in a few days to set a new date. A classic Belgian move, I thought. I've gotten so used to this that I wasn't even annoyed. In the morning after my night shift, I peacefully went to sleep, convinced that I didn't need to set an alarm to wake up early. I got up around noon and was unhurriedly making myself breakfast when the intercom rang. It turned out that the installer, who had called the day before to say he wouldn't show up, had, in fact, shown up. My wife rushed to the window, looking for the van he presumably arrived in, but there was none. It turned out he had brought the nearly three-meter-long blind in a Fiat 500. Of course, it was sticking out of the passenger window like Don Quixote's lance, but he delivered. An hour later, the blinds were installed in their place.

Mimo tego całego zamieszania znalazłem czas na trochę aktywności. A zaczęło się krótko po północy. Tym razem nocny trening podzieliłem na pół: 20 minut na ergometrze wioślarskim i tyle samo czasu na rowerze stacjonarnym. Jak zwykle taka dawka adrenaliny dała mi kopa na resztę nocy. Po południu, kiedy montażysta zakończył swoją pracę, wybraliśmy się z żoną na spacer do lasu. Szukaliśmy ochłodzenia, a znaleźliśmy miliony owadów, które doprowadzały nas do szału.**

This time, I split my night workout in half: 20 minutes on the rowing machine and the same amount of time on the stationary bike. As usual, that dose of adrenaline gave me a kick for the rest of the night. In the afternoon, after the installer finished his work, my wife and I went for a walk in the woods. We were looking to cool down, but instead, we found millions of insects that drove us crazy.
