First of all, it should be said, what do we Bengalis mean by Haor?

Haor is a type of large, shallow wetland located in the northeastern part of Bangladesh, which fills with water during the rainy season and looks like a sea or a beel. It is basically a lowland shaped like a bowl or a pot, which is filled with river water and rainwater during the rainy season. During the dry season, some parts of it dry up and look like a field.

Let's now know some information about the condition of Tanguar Haor. Tanguar Haor is a haor located in Sunamganj district of Sylhet, Bangladesh. Spread over an area of about 126 square kilometers, this haor is the second-largest freshwater wetland in Bangladesh. The haor is also known as Naykuri Kanda Chaykuri Beel to the locals. It is the second Ramsar site in Bangladesh, the first being the Sundarbans. Tanguar Haor is located at the foot of the Meghalaya Hills in Madhyanagar and Tahirpur upazilas of Sunamganj district. More than 30 streams (waterfalls) from the Meghalaya Hills merge into this haor. Tanguar Haor is the largest wetland in the district, covering an area of 12,665 hectares, consisting of 51 haors in 18 mouzas of the two upazilas. The main water-rich haor is 28 square kilometers, and the rest is residential and agricultural land. There are 88 villages within and on the banks of the Haor area. Once, this haor was a haven for trees, fish, birds, and natural biodiversit 26 of us set off for Tanguar Haor together.

Here, we acquire various skills. One of them is adventure skills. That is why we chose Tanguar Haor. Our journey started at 11 pm and we reached our houseboat at 8 am the next day. And we spent the next two days of our journey in that houseboat. The houseboat was called Jal Saasin.
Our journey started from Taherpur Ghat. Shortly after the start of the journey, we were given breakfast, which was simply amazing.

While eating breakfast, we enjoyed the amazing views of the haor.
After eating, we all shared our introductions among ourselves. And took some pictures. Later, our team leader gave us all the instructions for the next two days, and then we enjoyed the view of the haor and had fun. The food prepared by our houseboat chef every day was delicious.

We were watching the lives of the people living in the haor. In other words, they live completely on water. Also, each family has a boat for their transportation.
Let's get to the point, where does this water of the haor come from?
The border is at the very end of the border of Bangladesh. On the other side of the border is the Indian state of Meghalaya. This water stream comes down the mountains of the state of Meghalaya.

The fresh fish and duck of the haor were the tastiest food I have ever eaten.
On the first day, we traveled for about 5/6 hours and reached the watch tower, and took a bath in the water of the haor. After that, we traveled for about 1 more hour and reached Niladri Lake. Which is located on the India-Bangladesh border. We all completed some group work there. Such as climbing some small hills. At the same time, we explored on our own. On that occasion, I improved my photography skills a little more.

I collected some beautiful pictures from there.
In the evening, we did some entertaining group work among ourselves. After that, we ate roasted haor duck at night and slept while watching the moon at night and prepared for the next day. And the rain was always our companion.

After visiting Shimul Bagan, we enjoyed swimming in the clear and cold water of the magical river. Which was our final destination. From there, we returned to Sunamganj and later to our university.
All in all, going to Sunamganj was an adventure tour for us. Where we learned teamwork and enjoyed the beauty of nature.
