| Finally, after 5 months, yesterday I went to the coast again to take some pictures. So, half a year after my last SMS View, here is a new one with recent pictures. I will move away from Patras at the end of the month, so I had to force myself to become a bit more active again. | Endlich, nach 5 Monaten war ich gestern mal wieder für ein paar Fotos an der Küste. Ein halbes Jahr nach dem letzten MBM-Blick also endlich ein neuer, mit aktuellen Bildern. Werde Ende des Monats Patras verlassen & mußte mich dazu zwingen, mal wieder aktiv zu werden. |

| But before I get to my coastal adventure, some little guests I had recently. The colder weather seems to have made some critters look for cover inside my bathroom. | Bevor ich jedoch zu meinem Küstenabenteuer komme, zu einigen kleinen Gästen, die ich zuletzt hatte. Kühleres Wetter scheint mein Badezimmer recht attraktiv gemacht zu haben. |

| That looks like a moth of the species Antigastra catalaunalis. Usually lives in hotter areas, but has even been found in the Netherlands. Don't know whether it's endemic to Greece. | Das sieht aus wie eine Motte der Gattung Antigastra catalaunalis. Kommt aus heißeren Gefilden, wurde aber auch schon in den Niederlanden gefunden. Weiß nicht, ob sie in Griechenland endemisch ist. |

| Above is probably a leaf hopper assassin bug. Originally from North & Middle America, it is by now endemic to Greece & other Mediterranean countries. Don't know what it wanted in my bathroom since there is nothing to assassinate. | Oben sieht man wohl Zelus renardii, oder auch Blatttrichter-Attentäter. Kommt aus Nord- & Mittelamerika, ist inzwischen auch in Griechenland & anderen Mittelmeeranrainern heimisch. Keine Ahnung, warum das Viech in meinem Bad war. |

| That one's easy to identify, I thought: an earwig. Only when I checked, I had to notice that there are at least 16 different species in Greece. Because of the dark head it looks like a Labia minor, but it could be just as well a common European earwig or Forficula smyrnensis. | Der ist einfach zu identifizieren, dachte ich: ein Ohrenkneifer. Zu blöd, daß es davon allein in Griechenland 16 Arten gibt. Wegen des dunklen Kopfes tendiere ich zu Labia minor, könnte aber genausogut ein Gemeiner Ohrwurm oder Forficula smyrnensis sein. |

| The coast, finally. Actually, I wanted to test an action cam I bought long ago & never used. So, before I went to the coast I took a detour through the southern outskirts of Patras. The video can be found here. At the coast then, the view towards the north coast of the Gulf of Patras was nice as usual. | Endlich an der Küste. Wollte eine Action-Cam testen, die ich vor Urzeiten gekauft, aber nie benutzt hatte. Also machte ich einen Umweg zur Küste, der durch die südlichen Außenbezirke führte. Das Video findet sich hier. Der Ausblick am Meer, zur Nordküste des Golfs von Patras, war angenehm wie üblich. |

| Someone had fun in the sand. No idea what it is supposed to be or mean. | Jemand hatte Spaß im Sand. Keine Ahnung, was es darstellen soll. |

| The rocks had some nice seaweed growing on them. The place was close to some canal outlet, so probably got quite some nutrients from Patras. A few dozen metres further away, the rocks were either dead or only had some algae slick on them. | Auf den Felsen wuchs interessanter Seetang. War nahe an einem Kanalabfluß, bekam also wohl einiges an Nährstoffen ab. Einige dutzend Meter weiter waren die Felsen tot oder nur von einem Algenfilm bedeckt. |

| A bit higher up on the bolders there were a number of snail colonies. These are probably young snails who wait for the night. | Etwas höher auf den Felsen fanden sich einige Schneckenkolonien, wahrscheinlich junge Schnecken, die auf die Nacht warteten. |

| The waves were just the right size, not too heavy (although I had to clean the lens a number of times) & not too weak. | Directly at the outlets, the rocks didn't have proper seaweed, but something which looked more like moss. | Direkt am Kanal wuchs kein Seetang auf den Felsen, sondern etwas, das eher wie Moos aussah. |

| Don't think it actually was moss, but either way, it looked quite nice. | Glaube nicht, daß es wirklich Moos war, sah aber auf jeden Fall interessant aus. |

| After I had enough of all that greenery, I wandered northwards. As usual, the otherwise nice landscape was littered with washed up garbage. | Nachdem ich genug von dem Grünzeug hatte, wanderte ich nordwärts. Wie üblich war die eigentlich nette Landschaft mit angespültem Müll bedeckt. |

| Yeah, I know. I'm a sucker for stones. But there were not many really nice ones where I was. Just when I wanted to leave, I found something else interesting, though: | Ja, ich weiß, bin ein Stein-Narr. Leider gab es an dieser Stelle nicht allzuviele hübsche. | Looks like some kind of bone. But even though I turned it around, I have no idea what exactly it is. At least it made me look around a bit more closely, which led me to find more strange garbage: | Sieht wie eine Art Knochen aus. Aber weiß nicht, was es wirklich ist, obwohl ich es herumdrehte. Wenigstens brachte es mich dazu, mich dort noch etwas näher umzusehen, wodurch ich noch etwas seltsamen Müll fand: |

| Not the greatest haul of pictures for a trip to the coast, but at least I went there again. Will there be more visits to the sea in the last few days in Patras? We'll see. There is a lot of backlog, anyway. | Nicht die beste Ausbeute für einen Küstentrip, aber immerhin war ich mal wieder da. Werde ich nochmal an die Küste kommen, bevor ich Patras verlasse? Wir werden sehen. Habe sowieso noch viel Rückstand aufzuholen. |

| & that was it for this SMS View. Should be more regular again in the near future, but that depends on how my move to Albania or Bulgaria (still not decided) works out.
