Braving Winter's Bite for a Sunset's Warmth

It was one of those icy cold days, almost clear sky, just some clouds in the distance. One of those days in the winter period that you know can turn into a majestic sunset.

So, being a photographer, what do you do? Indeed, you get your stuff, put on some clothes (never warm enough), and you hurry to a place where you have a nice view on the sky, preferably with water included, for some nice reflections and extra light (it doubles the lightsource, great isn't it!!??? ;-) ).

So off I went, to the forest lakes not too far away from my home, taking the good old Canon R5 and the RF15-35mm f2.8 lens, a great duo for this kind of photography, the R5 can capture just about anything, and combined with the very wide angle lens, with still a really nice large aperture, you can almost shoot in the dark. Well, actually you CAN shoot in the dark, but that was not my intention at this moment.

So there I was, standing on the lakeshore, waiting for the moment.

And then it came. The horizon slowly fired up with hues of gold, orange, and soft blues. The lake mirrored the sky with pristine clarity, while bare trees framed the scene in delicate silhouette. It was the kind of beauty that makes you forget the frost in your hands or the icy trail behind you. A moment of connection, of stillness, of being.

John Denver once sang:
"And do you care what's happening around you, do your senses know the changes when they come?
Can you see yourself reflecting in the seasons, can you understand the need to carry on?"

And yes, at these times, I definitely can. And being able to capture this, and share it with the world... well...

Photography isn't just about the pictures; it's about the journey to get them. It's about standing in the cold, soaking in the last light of the day, and freezing time through the lens. It's about connection, with nature, with the subject, with the world.The hike back, under the darkening sky, was cold and challenging, but I carried warmth with me—both in my heart and in the images on my camera.

It sure was pretty chilly :-) But that's not always a bad thing though.. I love walking in the icy cold and then come home in the warmth with a hot cocoa ;-)

Indeedy, peanut butter is fantastic in its various combinations, I'm very much a fan!

I love all the sweet spices, cinnamon, clove, cardamon, allspice, and nutmeg, and all of them, and a whole lot more, goes into my superfood fire coffee! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

That's excellent that we're both planning for a big leap in 2025! I added up all my off-chain crypto assets today, and wrote about it in my daily post of course, and I have a few which are moving into pretty nice ranges. At the moment, I have enough for around a 450-HP jump. I'm going to let it all keep growing for the time being, until the leap can be over 1,000 HP. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Very much so, yes! It was from some crypto-investing suggestions about DOGE to a friend that made him a very nice profit, that I received that gift this summer of almost $2,000 in LTC. That's what I used to invest so much in BXT, DRIP, INCOME, and SORT.

Yeah, unfortunately I don’t have that much PEPE, I think less than 25€ or so…
DOGE for me is one of the few “losing” tokens :-) I normally only invest in what I know, and what I have done my due diligence on. Doge is one that I invested in after advice of a friend. It’s the only token up till now that is in the red for me :-D
Which is also a reason why I try to keep half of it (already sold my 50% loss a while ago), if it does keep rising, I might still get my investment back ;-)

It's OK, I've got no PEPE other than the version here on Hive. That's so curious to hear about DOGE being a poor-performer for you. I wonder how much difference the prices vary between dollars and euros for DOGE. Even just looking at it on Hive Engine, and it's up much higher than it was a year ago.
