WINTER ON THE SEASIDE PROMENADE
It's cold and windy outside while I'm writing this post in the cozy indoor atmosphere of my room. And it wasn't any different yesterday when all the photographs you'll see here were taken.
The palms were cheerfully swaying while I walked along the seaside promenade of Medulin, my hometown.
It wasn't very early in the morning, somewhere between nine and ten AM, I think, but the place was empty. That's quite normal for an ordinary working day in winter, but I expected a person or two on Saturday. Or at least some cats or dogs from that attractive neighborhood. But nope. Nothing.
The weekend walkers probably started arriving only in the afternoon. Ah, those party-loving sleepyheads. By the way, in this photograph, you can see something that looks like a bunch of folded parasols. I don't know how the thing works, but I know that is there to protect people from the sun during the summer. Closer to the street ...
... I photographed this partially sheltered terrace of the same restaurant bar.
The place felt fairly cozy compared to the immediate surroundings so I sat down for a while. A minute or two. Maybe ten. I don't know. Didn't have a watch with me.
Here you can take a look through the transparent tarp that serves as a window. A bit further down that road ...
... I came across a bunch of wooden chairs and benches piled up and stored behind the fence. Meanwhile ...
... the large leaves of the palms kept swaying in the cold wind that blows from the inland towards the sea. I like the funny winter look of these palm trees wrapped in protective foil.
Here you can see one of the fairly large apartment buildings in the second row of the waterfront properties. There is a small grocery store on the ground floor. It doesn't work in winter.
Here you can see another similar building from that neighborhood.
Behind one of the buildings, can't remember which one exactly, I found three imprisoned garbage cans.
I mean the fence is there for their protection but it made me think of prisons and zoos. When the following photograph was taken ...
... I was walking back towards the waterfront ...
... and the first line of seaside buildings. Each one of these has a clothes store, a gift shop, a bar, a restaurant, or something similar on the ground store. Rooms and apartments for summer rentals can be found upstairs.
Here you can see a line of cocktails in the advert attached to one of quite a few summer terraces frozen in time until the next summer.
Soon I got closer to the sea and the boats moored there to take another group portrait (the third and final one in this post) of the overwintering palm trees. From there ...
... I zoomed in to get a good look at the church and the old town on the hill. Medulin wasn't this close to the sea originally.
Here you can see one of the brand-new apartment buildings that were finished a couple of months ago. Some work is still being done around the neighboring building. The wheeled bulldozer, shown in this photograph ...
... will stay still and silent only till Monday. This cool-looking machine carries an excavator arm on its back a bit like a scorpion carries its tail. After all the macro photographs I take during the springtime and summer, I continue seeing small arthropods in everything for the rest of the year.
This building was almost finished a year or two ago. I mean, it's in function but it lacks a colorful facade. That's why I consider it almost finished.
AND THAT'S IT. EVERY WALK MUST COME TO AN END. HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS ONE. AS ALWAYS IN THESE POSTS ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK.
It's amazing that he didn't run into a single person on his way, despite the hour. As if everyone else was hibernating. The pictures are great, several of them would look very good in black and white. Best regards.
Thanks. 🙂 Glad you like the post. Yes, it looks like a collective hibernation is going on. 😀
The photos are so beautiful and amazing @borjan and thanks for sharing.
We don't see many people outside on winter mornings here either. Although we have less winter here. You have shared a lot of beautiful photography.
It seems so quiet 🤫, you where the only person in the mood for a walk. I do agree that the trash bins in the cage reminds one of a prison or zoo. We need to lock up bins to keep them safe from the wind, animals and people who don't want to buy there own bins 😂. Happy to see you enjoyed your walk 🍀
How are you dear friend @borjan good morning
You live in a very beautiful city, I love the architecture of the place, beautiful shots
It is true, you could appreciate how deserted the city was, people move away from the low temperatures
have a beautiful sunday
Thank you. 🙂 Have a great day.
All these pictures looks so beautiful. The house maps of Pakistan here are completely different from your houses. Some people here are without a plan, they build their own houses, but when they are built, they don't look very beautiful. This still-in-the-work-of-your-neighbors-home you shared with us is so beautiful. Overall your photography is awesome but house picture is my favorite in your photography. Thanks for sharing.
Your hometown looks very beautiful and inviting. I've never been to Croatia or met anyone from there.
Thank you. 🙂 Glad you like the post.
Honestly it looks like those palm trees are going to be plucked from the ground 🌴😂
Never expected this place to be this quite, But sometimes you only need to visit a place, where there is no one and you can enjoy your company yourself. The wind was too heavy that it bent the bushes of the tree heavily. Thanks for sharing your seaside promenade with us.

The city looks so quiet. It is my kind of city.
Bleak and wind-swept, but beautiful in its own way!
Saludos amigo @borjan excelentes fotos 😃 sería muy bueno que hicieras un documental de tu hermoso país ya que tienes un talento innato
Where the palm trees leaves cut?😂
They look like paint brushes 🙂
