THE TIDE WAS HIGH IN TASHALERA

avatar

The tide was high in the summer campsite Tashalera on the 9th of January this year when I spent a couple of morning hours there.

(Enlargeable)

The sea came closer to the trees ...

... and some trees were leaning towards the sea.

(Enlargeable)

In a pretty poetic scene, some branches were barely touching the surface of the sea with their needles.

(Enlargeable)

Pinus pinaster pine trees have roots that spread wide but do not enter deep into the terrain so you can often see them leaning in places prone to erosion or strong winds.

(Enlargeable)

Since the tide was at its highest, there wasn't much to do for me in the intertidal zone.

So I went rambling around the tourist infrastructure, deserted and abandoned until the next summer.

(Enlargeable)

If you would like to see how the place looks when the tide is low, you can follow the following link that will take you to an older Tashalera - themed post, published on the 23rd of January, always here in the @discovery-it community.

You can also take a good look at the pier in the old post ...

(Enlargeable)

... and compare it with the same pier in the current one.

(Enlargeable)

Here you can see a line of faucets ...

... in the open-air communal sink for the summer guests of Tashalera.

(Enlargeable)

This red playground slide was photographed nearby, in the fenced children's park that looked a lot like an empty zoo enclosure waiting for some energetic, intelligent animals that love to play.

(Enlargeable)

A minute or two later, I photographed some outdoor showers in the same area. They look relatively good. Kind of. I mean, these are only some gray pipes with gray showerheads mounted on a perfectly boring gray wall, so I ended up surprised that all that gray stuff isn't unwatchable in the photograph.

Here you can see a dramatic portrait of one of those communal showerheads. I tried to make a head-bowed character out of that mundane thing. A minute ago I was convinced that I succeeded. Right now, I'm not so sure.

While I was exploring the showers ...

(Enlargeable)

... a group of cormorants was slowly swimming across the bay.

They definitively looked cool in photographs. Especially in this formation where five of them are deployed like five dots on the "five" side of the gambling die.

Here you can take a look at the scenery across the bay.

The shower wall looked a bit like a pale, horizontal version of the dark monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey. After its work was done, the evolved primates turned the alien thing into an outdoor shower.

(Enlargeable)

Here you can see the Oxalis articulata plant that grew on the needles-covered terrain under the pine trees.

On the small deciduous tree not far from there, I found this old, rusted padlock with an old, rusted key in it.

(Enlargeable)

I don't know where I found this intensely colored piece of something that I'm now unable to identify. It has a slightly abstract look and it's a welcomed change from the gloomy, grayish atmosphere of the rest of the post.

(Enlargeable)

Here you see two buoys that were dancing together in the shallow water of the bay.

These two things that look like rockets are the towers of the biggest church in Medulin, my hometown hidden behind the green wall of pine trees on the coast across the bay.

(Enlargeable)

Less than a kilometer from the old town, in the harbor of Medulin, the scenery isn't hidden by the pines.

Here you can see the small grocery store that will reopen in summer when the camping site will be crowded and active again.

In this wide shot, most of the buildings of Tashalera are visible.

This is the fire protection point of Tashalera.

(Enlargeable)

Here you can see more pine trees and more scenery inside the camping place.

(Enlargeable)

This is the flooded pier ... again.

(Enlargeable)

Here you can admire another lovely buoy, while in the following photograph ...

... you can see a bunch of agaves that grew near the entrance of the camp.

And that's it.

(Enlargeable)

HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE TOUR. AS ALWAYS IN THESE POSTS ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK.

THE END

It's an amazing place and also very interesting but I'm focused on the pier that will sink soon. Is it because the water is rising or is it the pier that is collapsing?

Well looking at the pier it's very clear that the tide pushed up...

How does it feel being at a resort when there is literally nobody? It must feel somewhat eerie to say the least 😅😅 as if you are the last people alive on earth🤣😎

Btw that snapshot of the two church towers peeking out above the trees thatt looks pretty cool!! However it must add to the eerieness.

True 🙂The atmosphere is eerie in places like this during the winter.

Bonny cormorants indeed but I fear the 'bow-headed character' requires more imagination than I possess:)

I would love to canoe on the water with the ducks 🦆! But I imagine it was cold? And what's with the rusted lock on the tree? People leave strange things behind for others to find. Great adventures 😎👾

Yes, the water is pretty cold in winter. Not extremely cold, but far from being
comfortable.

I love those ducks, they are following a pattern, which nature makes for them to follow. The other thing I Like rusted Lock, but why someone have hanged it there ?

How strange the whole place feel without people! Cool photos if the water scenery. The calm water seems soothing and makes me quite sleepy. The whole place is still asleep after the peak holiday!

The cormorants look so cute.

It's good to keep the trees at the riverside, probably at the edge to protect the soil from eroding.
