SHOPPING AND RAMBLING AROUND

I had to buy some stuff today. So I visited the supermarket and some smaller stores. I bought some things in Medulin, my hometown, but some of the stuff I needed couldn't be found there so I also drove to Pula, the nearest city.

At one point, near the end of the shopping & rambling expedition, I had a drink in one of the few lovely places on the city riviera that stay open during the winter. But first things first.

It all started in Medulin. Early in the morning.

I walked about a hundred meters to the pharmacy near the main square in the center of the old town. After buying a nice variety of medicinal products for some of my friends and family members ...

... I decided to spend five to ten minutes exploring the stuff in front of the pharmacy. You can see the nearest streetlamp here.

The start of the day was cold, gray, and cloudy.

The only blue sky could be seen above the sunflower field of the mural painted on one of the houses across the street from the pharmacy.

The gate of the neighboring house was decorated with a "No Parking" sign. Two smaller auxiliary signs were signaling the same message from the wall.
When I'm not driving, traffic signs look like pieces of modern art to me.

Across the street from those sunflowers & signs, more or less next to the pharmacy, I saw a different kind of house. A lovely green house surrounded by evergreen trees.

The thing was painted on the snow-white surface of a van. The vehicle belongs to a small business that deals with the maintenance of the villas for the summer rental and their swimming pools. I mean, that's written under the stylized house.

The next stop was in Pula. On the outskirts of the city. I used my car to get there.

It was time to visit the big store called Pevex. The weather was still cloudy. But less gloomy, definitively.

After buying some stuff there ...

... I started exploring the simple geometries of the store's architecture.

Some structures looked pretty cool when seen through the lens of the camera.

The masonry barbecues were lined up in front of the building. They looked like The Usual Suspects.

High on the rooftop, a seagull was posing for this minimalist photograph. When the bird flew away, I entered my car.

It was time to drive to Verudela, the seaside neighborhood on the opposite side of the city.

I didn't have anything to buy there. It was time to be a winter tourist for a while and enjoy the coastal scenery.

(Enlargeable)

I had a cup of coffee in the place called E&D Lounge, but I didn't photograph the interior. Here you can take a look from the rooftop terrace.

Down in the large park between the lounge and the sea, an oversized brain was walking across the landscape. This lovely piece of surrealism wasn't there in the early autumn of 2019 when I last time visited the place.

(Enlargeable)

The rooftop terrace was empty. It was too cold to comfortably sit there for more than a quick shot of vodka, whiskey, or schnapps.

(Enlargeable)

Later, at home, I couldn't get that brain out of my head. The scene was surprising and memorable. Very inspiring. Everything else seemed brainless in comparison. So I created a couple of Photoshop edits from one of those slightly surreal photographs.

Here you can see the nearby marina known as Bunarina.

I passed by some olive trees on the way there. The trees were surrounded by a dense growth of rosemary shrubs.

Here you can see a line of small bungalows.

Some of them looked like offices.

Others were more mysterious.

(Enlargeable)

At this point, the weather was partially sunny. Still cold but much brighter than before.

Some tools in the marina were stored like zoo animals. Locked behind the fence.

Here you can take a look at the distant houses of the neighborhood across the bay.

Back in Medulin, I parked the car in front of the butcher shop & grill called Borula. One of the cats from that part of the town was also parked there.

(Enlargeable)

Besides being the name of the shop, Borula is also the family name of the owner that was working the morning shift when this photograph was taken. Here you can see the friend that was there with me buying some beef.

Once out of the store, the friend was greeted by a friendly cat.

AND THAT'S IT. HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS MORNING TOUR. AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK.

THE END

Looks like a great walk about. That brain on legs is so bizarre, I don't quite know if I like the look of it or not. The sunflowers are beautiful though. I also tend to find geometric shapes and designs wherever I go and take pics of them, I have no idea what I'm going to do with the pics yet though.

I accumulated plenty of photographs before starting the blog here. 🙂Definitively didn't know what to do with them before I found this crypto opportunity. Nowadays, when I have some new ideas those old shots come in handy sometimes.

What can I say again, I have being amazed at how clean this place is. There are high art creations on the walls of the houses, unique towns and nice shopping centers and boats parked regularly. May this city always be beautiful, peaceful and comfortable. Blessing

The sunflower mural 🌻🌻. It's perfection! The sculpture of the brain is something unique 🧠. I like you you can spot all the odd little characteristics and share it with us! Wish I could greet the cat as well!

Why does it look like the city is so quiet, did you deliberately photograph it without people seeing it? But I like the city because it looks very clean

There weren't many people around early on the cold Saturday morning. They started appearing when I was on my way home.
