MORNING LIGHT SHOW IN THE BAY

It was raining the whole afternoon and is still raining now, in the evening, while I'm writing this post. But, according to the local portals dedicated to the weather forecast, early in the morning, rain wasn't guaranteed.

At around 6 AM, I was on the stretch of coastline between the villages of Pomer and Premantura.

The atmosphere was pretty gloomy when I arrived.

The little egret (Egretta garzetta) was hunting in the shallow water.

The elegant bird looked like a ghostly appearance.

About a hundred meters from there, near some inflatable leisure platforms, a woman was walking two dogs in the shallows.

The bay of Medulin is pretty large, and some elongated narrow inlets look like rivers.

The tide was low, and so many coastal sea snails were out of water.

I photographed only two of those snails. The scientific name of the species is Phorcus articulatus.

Half an hour later, the colors started to change.

Well, at least along the horizon.

The calm water and the things reflected in it were a rich source of cool stuff to photograph.

This seagull has found a piece of shrimp and was trying to get the soft meat out of the exoskeleton by holding the pincer and shaking the thing.

This is the Larus michahellis, the most numerous seagull species in this area.

Meanwhile, the sky was slowly but continuously changing.

In places, the sunlight was piercing the thick layer of clouds.

The effect looked great up there, in the sky ...

... and even better, down in the bay, as a reflection in the shallows.

It started with narrow cracks that looked like made with a knife.

The cracks soon became holes ...

... with more light coming through.

These two looked like the eyes of a superhero.

Here you can see some buoys and reflections.

This combination of floating spheres and dancing lights on the surface of the sea was fairly inspiring ...

... so I took more photographs than expected.

I spent only an hour or so there by the sea. This is the last photograph of this short report from the bay.
