GREETINGS FROM PARADISE (...a warm, uplifting post about life, afterlife, travel, and some ordinary fun in the sun)

(Enlargeable)

The price was great, but the place was hell. The permanently smiling motherfuckers in the travel agency promised a raw, natural experience, and sure, they delivered.

Miss Dingleton was the only guest in the stone quarry, and she didn't look too happy.

(Enlargeable)

A tractor tire was lying in the middle of the large stony arena, and on that black tire ...

(Enlargeable)

... a grasshopper was dreaming of greener pastures.

A moth was also there. I don't know what he was dreaming about.
Both insects were souls of last year's visitors. What Miss Dingleton still hasn't realized ...

... is that she's dead and this is her afterlife. In the next few months, she'll turn into an insect and stay there forever.

And that's it - THE END

All the photographs were taken in the abandoned stone quarry a couple of kilometers from the village of Liznjan. I pinned the post to the WorldMapPin map so you be able to see where the hell that metaphysical place is.

No person or insect was injured during the shooting. A friend who was posing for this little story is still alive, and she agreed to play a dead person in this post.

The ambiance of the stone quarry, especially when seen in black and white, reminded me of the old The Twilight Zone episodes I adored as a kid.
That's what inspired me to take a few photographs from the bunch I was preparing for a very long Natural history-themed post I already published a year or two ago.

The colorful photographs that show some real tourists and tourism-related stuff were taken yesterday in a few attractive spots a kilometer or two from Medulin, my hometown. It is the end of the season, but the nice weather is keeping the sea temperature high enough, prolonging the fun in the sun.

AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, ALL THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK.

The abandoned stone quarry, what a vacation spot for the ages. I bet they have to beat people off with a stick to keep them away! lol Nice monochrome theme, making it all the more dreary and sad...

The shots from yesterday looked much cheerier, people enjoying the water. Looks like some nice beachfront not too far from where you live. I personally miss living in the Caribbean, the water was perfect and clear, and warm all year. The water off California is pretty cool temperature wise, so it's just not the same. Not to mention usually murky...

Great job!

Yes, the sea sometimes just looks great, but it isn't that great for swimming and floating in it. Here, the sea feels inviting only in summer. Caribbean sounds like a perfect place for enjoying the sea with no limits. I've never visited, but maybe I will one day if this crypto stuff makes me wealthier than I am now.

I really enjoyed looking at every photo you shared, and each of them contains a beauty that is truly worth appreciating. I noticed a white-colored moth among the photos, and I found its shape and appearance very beautiful. I wish you good health and well-being.
