FIVE INSECTS & FIVE PLANTS I PHOTOGRAPHED IN 2010
Well, there isn't much to say about today's post. I just collected a bunch of old photographs stored in old folders on one of my external drives to make an easy post that doesn't require much effort but still looks pretty good when you take a look at it. I had plenty of stuff to do but I tried to keep my blogging routine. That's it. Have a good viewing.
I know the name of most of the species shown here, but not of all. In this opening shot, ad example, you can see the Callophrys rubi, a small butterfly from the Lycaenidae family. Green is a rare color among the butterflies here in my area. This is the only intensely green one, actually, as far as I know. Only the low surface of the wings is green. The other side is grayish.
On the other hand, when it comes to this dry plant photographed in the beautiful morning light, I have no idea what species this is.
You can see a bushcricket nymph in this shot. This is a young Eupholidoptera schmidti.
These lovely flowers belong to the Linaria vulgaris plant.
Here you can see the male of the European mantis (Mantis religiosa). Females are bigger and thicker with shorter antennas.
This is the Datura stramonium flower.
The well-camouflaged insect shown in this photograph is another mantis. The Empusa pennata nymph. It was photographed early in the morning on the Rumex crispus plant that has produced plenty of small brown seeds.
Here you can see the thick, juicy & salty leaves of the Crithmum maritimum plant that grows on the coastal rocks.
You can see another bushcricket here. This is the Barbitistes serricauda.
Here you can see the beautiful details in the center of the Glaucium flavum flower.

The praying mantis and the bush cricket are for sure my favourite!
I never thought that's how a bush cricket would look🤔 doesn't look like a cricket at all... Except for the legs.
As always the mantis looks to be saying a prayer😂🙏

The color of the butterfly that you display is very, very the same as the color of the leaves, if you don't pay attention, surely its existence will not be seen.
A lot of species you mention occasinaly in different posts , its difficult to remember name of each one but i wonder how you do remember all the names of the different species. Btw a good collection.

La mariposa rubí, es muy majestuosa que bella.

Yes, no doubt Green is a rare colour, I have seen this kind of butterfly species once or twice in my life, their wings are harder than usual butterflies. Datura stramonium is a new flower for me.

I like the Datura flower. Something I've never seen before, it has a unique shape to it.
The cricket looks like his legs are to big 🤣 what happened with his evolvement. Maybe he's running (jumping) away from all the other bugs in the gardens 😂😅

Regardless if your photos come from 2010, 2014, 2016 or whatever year it is, it is always something spectacular to see, and this is even more so when it comes to macros or close-ups!... They are majestic!...
I was delighted to know that you also have green Lycenids there... Here we have several species of that family with that color and I think they are among the most beautiful!
if you like you can see a specimen of Arcas imperialis which I found a few days ago in a forest...
