ENDING THE ICE AGE INSIDE MY FRIDGE

avatar
(Edited)

My fridge is a pretty old machine. Can't tell you when exactly the thing left the store and entered my house but it feels like it happened decades or even centuries ago. It's like it has always been there, stuck in time or in some kind of parallel dimension that merges seamlessly with the rest of the fairly normal world around it. The fridge itself looks quite ordinary, with nothing special to see on the outside or inside, but is weird and crazy when it comes to the microclimate produced in its interior.

In summer, when the days here are long and at times almost unbearably hot, my fridge goes through its ice age. In this opening photograph, you can see three glass jars trapped in the ice like mammoths from thirty thousand years ago.

Today I decided to melt that frozen situation and do a bit of ordinary cleaning in the kitchen as well. These are the weekend activities I'm presenting in this post.

IMG_5016 malo.jpg

As always on these kinds of occasions, when there is action in the kitchen, my cats are active too. Some are ready to jump in the fridge, a mysterious place they rarely have the opportunity to explore ...

(Enlargeable)

... others supervise the process from some elevated point with a great view of everything.

(Enlargeable)

The top of the living room's display cabinet is such a place, one of their favorite viewpoints.

IMG_5000 malo.jpg

The cat shown in this photograph just jumped from the cabinet down to the table.

(Enlargeable)

The first, and more or less only, thing to do when deciding to end the reign of ice inside the fridge is to turn the machine off.

(Enlargeable)

The summer temperature will do the rest very quickly.

IMG_5010 malo.jpg

Here you can see a small piece of lettuce appearing as the indoor glacier is turning into liquid.

(Enlargeable)

At some point the block of ice loses its grip, it gets detached from the plastic surface, and then ...

(Enlargeable)

... it gets thrown through the kitchen window.

IMG_4418 malo.jpg

I enjoy seeing the block of ice getting shattered on the lawn. It's a refreshing moment. I got rid of the ice early in the morning. As you can see in this and the previous photograph, the sun was still very low above the horizon, and the atmosphere wasn't as bright and sunny as it would be half an hour later, but the weather was already very warm.

IMG_5011 malo.jpg

With the ice out of the picture, it was time to clean the fridge's interior.

IMG_5014 malo.jpg

When the work in the kitchen was done, I took a break and watched some Italian YouTubers for an hour or so. I mean, I was more hearing than watching because I was working on some photographs for one of the future posts at the same time.

(Enlargeable)

Here you can see two of my cats guarding the entrance to the bathroom. After taking this photograph, it was time to do some cleaning right there, in the bathroom.

(Enlargeable)

While I was working ...

(Enlargeable)

... one of the cats was playing and fooling around.

IMG_8760 samoMALO.jpg

This cat was photographed later in my room.

IMG_7644 malo.jpg

Here you can see another black cat. This one is sitting near the door and looking at the big world outside.

(Enlargeable)

I found the thing you see in this photograph while cleaning some drawers in the living room. It's a tool for repairing the fishing nets. I felt inspired to photograph it on the terrace.

(Enlargeable)

Later I took a walk to the grocery store and stopped for a moment to photograph this detail of one of the trees near the harbor.

AND THAT'S IT. THAT'S ALL I HAVE FOR TODAY. AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK - THE END

When I see your photo, I remember when I was a child who enjoyed turning piles of ice in the refrigerator into toys to clump.🤣🤣

The first figurine seems like giving the gesture or command for the cat to start jumping down from the top of the cabinet.

Did you find some lost artifacts under that ice? !LOLZ

A few days ago, our fridge was slightly tilted, causing a lot of ice to build up on various food items. The cat looks so cute.

When I saw your last photograph of a tree, I first say that they looks like snakes, later on I got this.
I also do the same process with my fridge when it fills with ice but mostly it happens when there is a good weather especially at midnight. In winters I switched off fridge because there is enough cooling to keep things fresh.

Even though the fridge had seen ages, it is awesome to note how super active it is on the inside, such a solid product of a fridge that is!

I thought I was the only one who loves to shatter ice, it is kinda a fun thing to do and watching the ice melt away slowly makes ìt even more exciting.

The cat that got itself wrapped up with the towel be like 'hey, can you give me some time to rest?' LOL

You got some great pictures!

Wellllll... Whatever was in the back of the fridge is surely stuck in whatever year you left it 😂

Kudos on the cleaning broh, I won't advise you to eat those frozen in time jam jars though 😂

In my decades alive, and the many defrosting episodes I've done along the way haha.. I've never seen bottles consumed quite like that lmao. Wow.. that's literally the ice age. Great job on tackling the issue my friend. Job well done!

Recently I helped my parents defrost the refrigerator and the situation was similar, the condensate drain was clogged, they couldn’t come up with something more perfect :)

Ohhh! My freezer looks like that sometimes, but never my fridge !LOL it must be very old indeed. I always have to wait for a really cold day to de-frost it!

Despite your fridge problems, have a great day! 🙃

When things sit in the fridge for a long time like that, they go into the ice, and the way we see your cats are so much cuter and so much smarter.
