29th of October 2013

I have plenty of old folders filled with many old photographs that I never published here on HIVE, mainly because I didn't know how to organize them or what kind of post to make out of them. Some photographs could fit nature-themed posts, my main interest here, while others are completely different. Picking a few shots from each folder is time-consuming and tedious, so I decided to make a long series of posts where in every episode, I'll show you the content of one entire folder. On my computer, those folders are organized chronologically. I won't follow that order here, but the title of each post will be the date on which the photographs were taken. For example, If I publish a short photo story about something that happened in 2013, as part of this series, don't be surprised to see something from 2011 a couple of days later in the same series, of course. You'll be able to easily recognize a post from this particular series by its title.

I spent some time in Pula on the 29th of October 2013, in the house of a friend that lives in an old house on the outskirts of the city.

I felt inspired to photograph some beautiful details in the kitchen.

(Enlargeable)

Another friend from Medulin, my hometown, was there with me. Here you can see the two friends chatting in the kitchen. The female friend is the owner of the suburban house shown in these photographs.
I had a small, and not very good, compact camera in those years so the pictures are muddled and grainy. Despite the low quality, they can convey a visually fairly interesting atmosphere, I think. That old camera had a nice night-vision option that created these green images in low light.
I added a bit of yellow tinge in Photoshop today, and I felt satisfied with the final result.

Here you can take a look through the frosted glass of the door that leads to the small backyard with many aromatic plants.

The kitchen is in the part of the house that was renovated a decade or so ago. In the following photograph ...

(Enlargeable)

... you can see the walls on the other part of the same house.

I found some interesting details there. You can see an old phone in this shot. An old phone and a mysterious old portrait.

You can always find some beauty in the old things that have seen better days.

These walls look different now. The entire house was renovated a couple of years ago.

The house is situated on the corner and has two entrances from two different streets. Back then in 2013, this one was leading to the unrenovated part.

These old glass figurines were photographed in the living room.

I photograšhed the bathroom as well.

Can't tell you where I found the detail shown in this photograph.

Here you can see what happens in Photoshop when you apply the invert option to the picture. I like the ghostly atmosphere.

I visited the cemetery of Pula that day, but I don't remember why. I didn't have friends or relatives buried there in 2013.

I probably saw many petrified angels there, big, small, and everything in between, but only this little one ended up in one of the photographs from the 29th of October 2013.

Here you can see some shadows. Or reflections. I don't know what is this exactly.

Here you can see another friend. The third friend in this post. She was photographed in Medulin.

In this shot, you can see an airplane passing across the dark blue sky.

Here you can see only trails. The plane is too small.

Later, at home, probably at the end of the day, I was watching some funny Croatian stuff on Youtube.

AND THAT'S IT. HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS OLD STUFF. AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK.

THE END

These are very nice and interesting photos! I like the green tinge on photos! My old camera couldn’t do such things!

I think I prefer the warm atmospheres in these old photos! They are very approachable and warmer than starling light photos.

Seeing you posted your old photo brings a little bit of sadness to me. because I have lost a lot of photos I took over the years, especially when I started my photography hobby. all because I was too clumsy, deleted the files accidentally, the computer broke down, the harddisk was formatted by my brother, and stuff like that.

But anyway, those photos are awesome, love the grainy result.

These pictures convey such an interesting atmosphere... it seems that some of them could have been taken in the 1970s, so deep into the past they delve.

I may not have even a 5-year-old picture in my phone, as I'm not fond of saving pictures. but you surely have a lot of photos and it looks like you don't delete them.

So in summary you went to a friend's house, got bored and took a picture of practically random stuff that caught your eyes😂😂😂

The frosted glass window is dope though 😀, best quality yet low quality shot I've seen in a while 🔥

I'm not a 90's kid but these pictures remind me some movies of that time. It creates a scary environment as well I considered them asthetic tbh.
I love all the images !
