We Met A Furry Friend! π
We were sitting in the field, waiting for my daughter-in-law and her family to arrive, but due to an unexpected event, we ended up meeting a friend instead!
A furry friend, to be exact π
We were all just sitting in the grass, minding our own business, when this bright yellow caterpillar approached us. He was just squiggling along on the grass, making a beeline for my husband! π
So, this caterpillar actually turns into a moth, not a butterfly. The American Dagger Moth, to be more specific. It isn't poisonous, but its prickly coat can leave your skin itchy and irritated. Needless to say, we did not make contact. Observing from a safe distance is what is always best! π
We were also careful to put him back exactly where we found him: safely back upon the grass.
After our unexpected encounter, my daughter-in-law and family finally arrived π Their son is almost 2-years-old (in October). He used to be extremely timid around strangers, attached to his mother's hip, and he still is timid to an extent. Today, however, he seemed to accept us more π
He is becoming much more expressive as well! Saying a lot more little words. While we were on the trail, he was repeating all of the words that were said to him: "Spider," "flower," "robin"
At the park, they have one of those spinning contraptions; I have no idea of the name. You can sit in the middle of it, and there is rope all along the outside so that you can hang on while it spins!
Unfortunately, as an adult, spinning now makes me nauseous, so I could only hang on for a few minutes π€’
The kids loved it though! π
There was a splash pad at this park as well. It was designed after a swamp, with giant cattails coming out of the ground.
It was another great day to cool off, for the sun was beating down on us today π₯΅ There wasn't a moment of peace, not a single cloud to defend us from the heat!
Our oldest daughter has had an obsession with wearing her mermaid outfit, an obsession that many kids have at her age. She wants to wear it everywhere, every time π I think the only time she HASN'T worn it has been to bed, but you can guarantee that she has tried!
Aww this is so cute ma'am, the family bond and everything π₯°π€
Thank you, I appreciate your comment. Our daughters loved seeing their big sister π₯°
You're welcome ma'am ππ₯°
Hope they didn't sting you, because these insects sting very well ohh, and it really hurts
No, we only observed from a safe distance: on a stick π
Thank you for your comment, enjoy the week!

Gotta love family time like this! Your daughter SURE was trying to touch the caterpillar hahaha.
Oh yes, she's still in the grabbing and putting in her mouth phase π π keeps you on alert often! But she enjoyed seeing this caterpillar, it was great!
