Walking Onto A Frozen Lake!
Hello everyone, and welcome to the start of another week! Today, I want to share some photos that we took over the weekend, for it was the first time that our two little girls were able to walk out onto a frozen lake!
It was about mid-afternoon by the time my family and I all made our way down to the bay. As one knows, during the winter months, the sun will begin to set much earlier than in the summer, so we typically see a sunset at around 4:45PM. Still, as I watched the sun slowly start to hide amongst the clouds, I couldn't help feeling optimistic about our adventure.
We made it to the lake! This is our city's bay area, located towards the north of the city limits. If one is fortunate enough, they may see things, like swans, swallows, geese, and beavers! On top of this, there is also obviously fishing. It used to be quite a popular activity -- people will bring their ice fishing tents onto the lake -- but since the isolation that came with COVID, we only saw one tent this year...
I love this one, haha! Everyone looks so prim and proper, with our oldest daughter flashing me a great big smile!
Our girls had a wonderful time. My husband and I are both very thankful to have two little girls that do not let the cold temperatures deter them! They simply love trying new things. We would like to get them ice skating soon. As Canadians, we typically learn to skate before we walk!

Once everybody was back on land, I looked down to find this, only several feet away from us. It is a dead squirrel. Unfortunately, these things happen, for every living thing is desperately trying to survive the winter months. However, I thought it was pretty neat! I find it interesting that we can still identify it as a squirrel, just from its bones and tail alone!
My husband wanted to stop for a moment to take some drone photos, so we all went to hang out under the gazebo.
(I apologize, it is an inside joke! Source: https://tenor.com/view/gazebo-h3gazebo-h3-h3h3-h3podcast-gif-24113559)
The girls and I had to keep ourselves preoccupied while my husband was busy flying his drone. Thankfully, again, with our daughters, that does not take much!
Our oldest daughter managed to find a HUGE icicle! We told her to be very careful with it, as it could have been sharp enough to hurt somebody! But she had a great time holding it, and after she was done, smashed it onto the ground LOL!
Family photo~ I love being able to get a photo of all of us together. In the back of my mind, I am usually saying to myself, God forbid anything should happen to our family... We will have many wonderful memories to continue to look back on...
To end our time at the Bay, I decided to chase our oldest daughter around the gazebo LOL! She had a lovely time -- they both did! Shrieking at the top of their lungs, laughing so much that we had to stop to catch our breath. It is such simple things that bring us such a zest for life!
Honestly, this photo of the lamppost is probably my favourite photo of the entire evening. The dreamy scenery reminded me of something from my years as a young adult, when my friends and I would just be coming out around this time to enjoy the nightlife! Very dreamy and nostalgic...
Just past the Bay, as we were on our way home, we passed the train station that is right beside the frozen lake. This is one of our Canadian GO stations. This train will make its journey to Toronto in the morning. The trainyard is great for being able to find some very talented pieces of graffiti -- people LOVE creating art along the sides of the train cars.

I can literally feel the cold from just looking at the pictures.
It's little moments like this that make like worth living and I'm glad the weather didn't stop you from having a fun time with family. Your daughters are really beautiful!
Thank you, your comment is very lovely to read. You're absolutely right! With what's going on in the world, I am trying to hold onto the things that are important! Please have a wonderful week
It's wonderful to see the girls playing in the snow; they are truly charming images.
