The Modern City of Rabat, MOROCCO

Hello dear Hive Community, I hope this post finds you well! I have been showing pics of traditional places in Rabat lately and today, I would like to show you the modern city.

I have been living here for many years now and during the past 5 years or so, this place has changed dramatically. When the TGV line from Tanger to Casablanca was inaugurated in 2018, several modern railway stations were completed and many other infrastructure projects were built nationwide. This seems to have marked the total transformation of modern Moroccan urban life. The pandemic had a severe impact on the Moroccan economy but it didn't stop the phenomenal drive to modernize the country. The prestigious Mohammed 6 tower project, with its surrounding commercial and cultural district, is due to be completed in 2023 and there is a buzz around town about a bright future for the kingdom’s capital.

Here are some of modern and futuristic spots of Rabat:

the new Grand Theater of Rabat

mosques are still built the traditional way and so they should be ;)

The Mohammed 6 Tower, which is still under construction, will be the second largest tower in Africa with 250 meters height, 55 floors, 100000 square meters floor area and covered with photovoltaic panels. It will include office and commercial space, high-end apartments, a luxury hotel and an observatory located at the top of the tower.

As you can see, the Kingdom of Morocco is not about a bunch of camels and oases but is a modern emerging state ready for inclusion in the global business community of the 21st Century.
