PhotoFeed Contest - Cityscape - Postcards From The Palace.
Hi everyone, back with one of my all time favourite locations to fly.
Hampton Court Palace west of London along the river Thames has amazing architecture, lush green lawns, expansive parks & gardens,
I last visited here about three years ago but it seems like a few weeks ago.
Around the 'front' are two gatehouses in series. One is named after Anne Boleyn.
Above is a single shot x3 AEB vs a 12x3 AEB panorama shot and trying for limit the warping.
I am yet to see the north side from either ground level or high up but at least three of the four sides of the palace are incredibly photogenic. The blend of building techniques and styles adds to the allure.
The position of the early morning sun at this particular time wasn't quite on side to see the architectural details but I am happy with the shadow details after editing!
A shot of the various gardens. King Henry wanted his children to remain safe but still have the experience of the outside world so he built the 'The Magic Garden'- their own play park styled similar to a fairground. It is open to the public.
For this visit, the palace was closed. I chose Cigarette Island as a take off location so I could maintain line of sight. This is as close as I could get to that area, I aim to go back at some point soon.
This subject is a lot of fun to shoot- mainly because there are multiple locations outside of the huge park lands suitable for take off and the area is flat so I could fly quite far out whilst retaining sight of the drone.
I went back for sunset, this time taking off from Palace Beach, opposite the Privy Garden.
The difference in optics between the Mini 2 & Mini 4 are immediately apparent in the details and the nuance of textures like the meticulously sculpted bushes seen in the image below.
Until the next time!
