The night when the moon illuminated Vršački breg

Last night I went for a simple bike ride, but what I found on Vršački breg turned the moment into a fairy tale: there was a full moon, an illuminated castle and a silence that makes you stop and feel life as it is. I didn't plan anything special last night I got on my bike just to ride a lap to clear my head after a hard day at work. I needed some quiet time.

I headed towards Vršačka breg. Night had already fallen, the air was cold but pleasant. As I approached the hill, the moon caught my eye. It was big, orange, full. The Castle on Vršački breg was illuminated below it. At that moment I braked the bike and just stood there.

There was no one around me, just the line of lights leading up to the castle and the moon shining down on it like a spotlight. It seemed surreal, like a scene from the movie Aladdin. As I paused and watched this scene I thought, how many times do we pass by beautiful things without noticing them? Last night I was lucky enough to stop.

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about work, plans, books, projects, etc my head is constantly processing something. But last night under that moon everything was simple. Just me, a bike and a scene that reminded me that beauty exists even when we are not chasing anything.

As I stood there in silence I felt how small I really am under that sky and how often all the worries we carry are smaller than we think. The moon will rise the next night as well the castle will still stand on the hill but this moment and this feeling only exists once. Maybe life isn't all about big plans and goals, maybe life is just in those short breaks between everything. In the moments when you stop, you breathe in and you look up and feel grateful that you are there. I just went for a ride last night. I returned home calmer. And I realized that we are not chasing happiness, it is already there, just waiting for us to stop.
