Today I am going to share you the pictures of insect that often misidentified as a bug. This insect has a latin name Scutelleridae, commonly known as jewel (stink) bugs or metallic shield bugs due to their eye-catching colors.

Its family name is based on the Asian genus Scutellera. This insect is also known as shield-backs due to the large size of their thoracic scutellum, which forms a continuous shield over their abdomen and wings.

This insect feed on plant nectar from a variety of different species, including commercial food. Closely related to stink bugs, it can also produce an unpleasant odor when disturbed.
