Visiting and getting to know the Gaira River 🌿🏞️ | 📍Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia. [ESP-ENG]
Hola amigos viajeros, feliz día! Espero que se encuentren super bien y estén teniendo un lindo día. El día de hoy les daré un pequeño paseo por un río muy conocido acá en Colombia debido a su importancia ambiental en la zona y por supuesto, su belleza.
Hace unos días tuve el privilegio de visitar y conocer el río Gaira el cual queda ubicado en la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, me tomé la tarea de investigar un poco (ya que solía confundir este río con el de Minca) pero resulta que aunque este río suele compartir la misma región geográfica con el río minca son dos cuerpos o cursos de agua totalmente diferentes.
La diferencia entre el río Minca y el río Gaira, es que este último desciende de las montañas de la Sierra Nevada, fluye a través de la región y desemboca en el Mar Caribe. Este río más que un curso de agua, es un elemento vital para la vida de los locales como fuente de sustento ya que en él se da mucho lo que es la pesca debido a su gran variedad de especie de peces, así como también se hace uso de sus aguas para el tema de la agricultura.
Algo que me gustó mucho es el recorrido que debes hacer para llegar hasta el punto, ya que esta rodeado de montañas y naturaleza. En el lugar te encuentras con un sin fin de restaurantes o balnearios donde puedes disfrutar de deliciosos platillos preparados en leña mientras admiras la belleza natural que tiene este rincón de Colombia, nosotros llegamos a un lugar llamado ''Estadero y balneario donde Nando'' y desde allí pudimos apreciar lo hermoso de este lugar.
Hello fellow travelers, happy day! I hope you are feeling great and are having a nice day. Today I will give you a little tour of a very well known river here in Colombia due to its environmental importance in the area and of course, its beauty.
A few days ago I had the privilege of visiting and getting to know the Gaira river which is located in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, I took the task of doing some research (since I used to confuse this river with the Minca river) but it turns out that although this river usually shares the same geographical region with the Minca river, they are two totally different bodies or watercourses.
The difference between the Minca River and the Gaira River is that the latter descends from the Sierra Nevada, flows through the region and empties into the Caribbean Sea. This river is more than a watercourse, it is a vital element for the life of the locals as a source of sustenance since it is a great source of fishing due to its great variety of fish species, as well as the use of its waters for agriculture.
Something that I really liked is the journey you must make to get to the point, as it is surrounded by mountains and nature. In the place you find an endless number of restaurants or spas where you can enjoy delicious dishes prepared on firewood while admiring the natural beauty that has this corner of Colombia, we arrived at a place called ''Estadero y Belnario donde Nando'' and from there we could appreciate the beauty of this place.
Es impresionante lo cristalina y frías que son sus aguas, un punto de ventaja es que llegamos cuando no había tanta gente por lo que escuchar el agua mientras corría, la pequeña cascada y estar rodeados de tanta vegetación te hace sentir y tener un encuentro directo con la naturaleza. Debido a que íbamos con niños decidimos quedarnos en una zona plana del río, sin embargo, más adelante puedes encontrarte con zonas más profundas.
Como les comenté al inicio en el establecimiento también contaba con servicio de restaurante por lo que decidimos almorzar en el lugar, los precios de los platillos son bastante cómodos, oscilan entre $16.000 a $23.000 pesos Colombianos ($4.05 - $5.83 Dólares) dependiendo de lo que desees consumir. Sin duda la comida preparada en leña tiene un toque único, por lo que ya se podrán imaginar como estaban las sopas y como obsequio de la casa nos brindaron el café de la tarde.
Esta de más decir que la atención fue increíble, en todo momento estuvieron pendientes de nuestra comodidad, fueron bastante rápidos y muy amables.
As I mentioned at the beginning in the establishment also had restaurant service so we decided to have lunch there, the prices of the dishes are quite comfortable, ranging from $ 16,000 to $ 23,000 Colombian pesos ($ 4.05 - $ 5.83 dollars) depending on what you want to consume. Without a doubt the food prepared in firewood has a unique touch, so you can imagine how the soups were and as a gift of the house they gave us the afternoon coffee.
Needless to say that the service was incredible, at all times they were attentive to our comfort, they were very fast and very friendly.

No doubt knowing this place was an incredible experience, although it is somewhat similar to the Minca River, each one has its unique beauty, we all enjoyed a different and quite relaxing afternoon.
