This Heat That Will Kill Us All

I repeat this all the time, but it's getting harder and harder to say it, as summer is my favorite season. Especially living in a big city.

My passion for summer comes from my childhood spent in the country with my grandparents, and it was fueled by two main causes: freedom and liberty. The same thing from two perspectives: the freedom afforded by a big vacation and the liberty of being in the middle of nature.

Childhood is long gone, but the love of summer is not, fueled now by the love of the sea.

Though summer has become almost unbearable now.

Summer Sequences in Bucharest, Romania.

I wish I could be at the seaside right now, but I can't... and I don't think it could get any cooler. I used to go to the beach in May and June, and again in September.

It's so hot that I don't dare leave the house during the day. However, I have to visit different places in the city, as I have obligations, especially medical checkups that I can't postpone.

I crossed Izvor Park in the city center.

The Izvor Park is relatively young, I would say, which overlooks graves. Not graves of people, it's graves of houses. A whole old neighborhood of Bucharest, the Uranus neighborhood, was demolished in the 1980s.

At first, it was just a large field with no trees; then landscaping and planting began, and now it resembles a park. I didn't like it at first, but now I've come to appreciate certain aspects. I like that it looks like a field, with grass, trees, not too many, and dirt paths.

Who would believe that this path leads to the most famous building in Romania, one of the largest administrative buildings in the world?

IMG_20250626_095818.jpg

The Romanian Parliament, originally known as the House of the People.

This field-turned park is a result of this monstrous building. Dozens of hectares were demolished in the 1980s during Romania's communist era to build a civic center, as desired by dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu.

I let myself go along the path that reminded me of the roads of my childhood, and before approaching the building, I look at what the summer makes of this place.

First of all, I am glad that nature wins every time, it just needs a little soil, a little rain, and a little peace...

Those who are not afraid of sunburn will find here a good place of peace and rest. Someone who really isn't scared of sunstroke!

It appears that men find it more difficult to withstand the heat than women.

I quickly arrived near the big building. I must say that I am not an admirer.

Much more beautiful is nature!

There were a few thoughts and images that came to mind due to this hot summer.

I heard of a book title: This heat that will kill us all".

Could it be?

I like to tell about my travels and share them with anyone who can and wants to read. I like it when I write, I remember. When I see the photos, I mentally teleport back to those beautiful moments and relive them once again. Summer Vibes!

We’ve had very little rain here in England and hot weather too. Though not as crazy as in your part of Europe. I’ve a Moldovan colleague, a fellow software engineer and be works from his home city and travels into Romania often. They’re struggling, really finding it hard, he can only take outdoor exercise with his dog at 9pm onwards.

One of the clichés about England is that it rains all the time, and the English never let go of their umbrella. It would seem no longer.
It's true, the heat is stifling, and activities outside are out of the question. I fear August will be the same. Adapt or die, eh?

We were just talking with @traisto how not fun is the summer any more. Most of the day we have to stay indoors and even a short swim in the sea has to be early in the morning or late in the evening. We have to wait for the night to make a walk and we still end up sweating.

Anyway, I hope you and your wife are in good health.

Greetings from Greece!

We live in spectacular times, even if some are unpleasant. I never thought I would witness a climactic change in my lifetime, let alone the advent of the internet and AI. My pessimism leads me not to be too confident in a good future.

Stefanos, good to see you! Please give my best to Fotini. Even if it doesn't show, I often think of you, and when I miss Greece, your photos are the remedy.

Not everything is going well for us, but we still enjoy life.

I am also glad that nature always wins, and will continue to do so, wherever there is space for a flower to grow. And no, I am not afraid of sunstroke, the place is beautiful!!! I hope and wish that you will soon see the sea.🤗

That title reminds me of the song by Queen : Too Much Love Will Kill You. And we still love and are loved, and we also let the summer bring us all its good vibes, poppies included to us 🌹 😉

I do like the building, but of course, nature is much nicer 😇

It would be much better if too much love killed us, instead of sunburn... but better let no one and nothing kill us!
This is summer now, and I'm glad I have a place to share my thoughts about it.
Thanks, @@@mipiano!

Hahaha, yes, no one and nothing should kill us - love and summer are to be enjoyed 😇

I was riding my bike today with my niece through some corn and sunflower fields, just the poppies were missing - I didn't find any.

Good evening @bluemoon, it's heartwarming to see how nature is opening up and reclaiming what man has taken from it (that building is a hideous monument). I hope that walk on the beach comes soon.

Best regards.

What a pleasure it is for me when I see wishes to go to the sea. I will arrive in September when I hope it will be cooler. Thank you very much!

In summer, we see a lot of flowers and plants growing, but the heat has become so intense that it is a fact that at this time, the heat has once again risen in our city. There were rains for the last few days and the weather was good, but now the temperature is above 40 degrees every day.

Nature always wins! Even if humanity were to destroy itself, nature would survive and recover.

Just like you, I would always pick nature over city, green over grey, the sun over rain... 😃

I hope you will make it to the sea asap! 💪

I have to wait until September for the sea. Tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, time flies. Sometimes we like it, other times we don't. In this case, I am happy. Thank you!
