The Easter Fair
It is not obligatory, but it is desirable that a day, to be memorable, should be beautiful first of all from a meteorological point of view. Spring is not like summer, but it is not like winter, although it has similar characteristics. This spring started as summer and then turned into winter. Of course, it couldn't have been a long winter, and here it is, starting this Sunday, the warm and sunny weather is returning. It was the first sign that it would be a special day.
A special day can be determined by many events; it is a purely subjective choice.
This most recent Sunday was special for me because it was sunny after two weeks of bad weather. I walked with my wife through the city center, visited a fair, and celebrated with coffee and cookies.
I need to explain why walking in the city center is so special. I live on the city's outskirts, which is secluded, but I have everything I need nearby. Because of this, I rarely go downtown; when I do, it is exclusively for relaxation, artistic purposes, and entertainment.
This walk was decided because Victory Avenue, Bucharest's most beautiful boulevard, becomes a promenade every weekend until the fall.
Victory Avenue is an essential and old boulevard. Unfortunately, because of this, it is a narrow thoroughfare, with only two lanes for cars and two for bicycles. During the week, it is full of cars, but at weekends, people occupy the whole space. It's a pleasure to see lots of children occupying the roadway.
This promenade is perfect for a walk, which we did after a few months of break. The end is in Victory Square, an essential place in the city, where the building houses the Romanian government. From there, a few boulevards lead to the north of the town, the green area of the Romanian capital.
I didn't accidentally choose Victory Square as a target and a pause. Here is our favorite cafe, decided after much searching, to find the best and biggest cappuccino and the friendliest hosting.
Finally, the Easter Fair at the Romanian Peasant Museum, located near Victory Square, was the icing on the cake.
In Bucharest, there are two ethnographic museums that exhibit exhibits illustrating the life of peasants in the past. The Roman Peasant Museum, I think the most interesting museum in the city, is the Village Museum, which is an open-air museum exhibiting houses from different regions of the country. Fairs are organized for important holidays.
You can buy various folk objects, such as fruits, flowers, and food, made by artists, both old and recent.
We were especially interested in some icons made by a friend of ours. We were curious to see them but didn't intend to buy them because they were too expensive...
Most of all, we wanted to see and buy something specific to Easter in Romania: painted eggs. These are painted in the villages of northern Romania, in a province called Bukovina.
Even though I haven't done much, I'm starting to enjoy these weekends more and more. I think they'll become a habit.
*I always start with photos when I want to write a blog. Photos remind me of places, events, and feelings that turn into words.
Since we all love photography, let’s explore the captivating details captured in these photos!
A wise saying goes that a photograph is worth a thousand words, but I don't think so.
It depends on the viewer.
Thanks, @ewkaw and, of course, @qurator! I am always happy to receive encouragement from you.
Bucharest seems to have the same climate with Istanbul :) It has become as cold as winter here too, and it will get warmer the next week ;)
Yes, this is precisely how it will be in Bucharest.
The painted eggs are beautiful, they have gorgeous patterns. 😍 Are they real boiled eggs or maybe just their shell? Or wooden ones? We had at home some of these made of wood
Eggs are specially prepared for drawing. First, two small holes are made, and the contents are removed. Then, they are washed, dried, and painted in overlapping layers. This laborious craft, specific to some regions of northern Romania, is passed down in the family from parents to children. In the end, the result is these painted eggs, which are very beautiful, light, and fragile.
Thank you, @mipiano. I have not yet enjoyed your walk on the deserted and windy beach. I'll save it for later...
It's just like that, there are places that are famous and people come there and walk, so it's good for their health. Walking is good for the health of all of us.
Taking a walk is mandatory now to maintain your health.

Finally I see the sun on the streets, the shadows it casts and the reflection on the windows. That fair says it all, full of flowers and that coffee looks delicious... you're just a step away from the sea, I told you!
Ha.ha... The perennial theme of the sea, I'm glad you remember.
I already know the first departure... first day in June, to the same Balchik.
Thank you!
Every day it will be less and less, do not stop seeing it in your mind every day. As long as I try to enjoy every moment, time doesn't come back.
Wow, this Easter fair seems to be a popular event thing going on.
I don't remember we have something like this of a big scale.
Yes, is an annual fair, in fact there are several such fairs related to different religious holidays.
