Spring Is Definitely Here

avatar

Spring is here. Calendaristically it has begun, astronomically it will happen in a few days. We're in that transitional period when we alternate between cold, dreary days and warm, sunny days, with temperatures preparing us for the summer to come.

Beautiful days, it just needs to not rain to be a beautiful day, send an invitation that cannot be refused. This an invitation to everyone to get out of the house and start seeing the signs of spring, those of us who live in cities usually choose the parks and those who live in the country have nature much closer, it starts near everyone's home.

I have a small yard where nature is both spontaneous and of my own making, where I bring plants and shrubs every spring, seedlings that change shape and color and give me great satisfaction.

Great nature I find in parks. I don't miss any opportunity to enliven my eyes and soul by walking in a park. Again, one of my favorite parks is Circus Park!

The trees are reacting more slowly, they are slowly coming out of hibernation, but the birds that are most affected by the winter and the cold are now the happiest, they now know that spring is definitely here.

There are many reasons why I love this park, I have said them many times and I don't want to repeat them now, except for one... Next to the park is the flower shop that I like the most.

Tria's Flowershop!

Now I'm writing with thoughts of #MarketFriday and @dswigle who invented this concept and suggests we write about places to spend money. As such places are countless, so are our writing opportunities. We just have to be inspired...

I've written about this flower shop several times, but I've never been shown how to get there from the park. Now I want to do that, more for myself, in case I happen to somehow lose my memory.

This is a small shop with little space inside the building...

... this would be one of the reasons why flowers are stored outside, right on the pavement. Another cause is marketing. Every passer-by, who might not enter the shop, can now see the flowers while walking on the sidewalk.

Generally, such shops display a few flowers outside, at the entrance, to persuade customers to come in and buy but I haven't seen another flower shop that leaves so many flowers outside. I think this approach is successful because there are many buyers, myself included.

So many flowers seem to be left unattended but in fact, are not. There's a little caretaker, quite lazy, but he notices everything, I think.

I think the time has come to show you some of the flowers on offer, almost all spring flowers.

About prices... There are prices for everyone, from $2 to $100. I've never bought more expensive than $30, I have a strategy.

My strategy is not a great discovery or mystery. I wait for flowers unsold for a while to be sold at a discount, sometimes at half price. They don't remain the greatest flowers but I often find something good for my garden.

Often when I get there I don't have much money but I always buy something, as I did this time, paying $5 for this succulent plant...

I don't buy too many things lately, my wife does that with great pleasure. Flowers are the only shopping I do with pleasure!

The end is still a flower, as @dswigle says, #alwaysaflower!

Doesn't do any good to complain, so I supposed I am as well as can be expected. For a fat old man who abused himself most of his earlier life ha ha ha
I hope you are also well.

Most of us abused our youth, of course in different intensities, I "abused" with too much work and now I am starting to feel the consequences.
As you say...

Doesn't do any good to complain

Agree with that and let's still enjoy what we can now. Good health!

I'm trying, I really am trying to enjoy what I have now.
I like the saying that "what you have now, just a few years ago you were only dreaming of having"
Which is very true, but what I have now is a house and a yard that is too much for me to keep clean and gardens working by myself. I am alone, and I suffer from Clinical Depression (along with a host of 'old man body' health issues)
And yet, I try

Years go by, time ravages our bodies;
Spirits get damaged.
Yet,
Always underneath the wrinkles, tears
And pain, lies a child.
Still,
Peeping out at the world with wondering
Eyes, seeing Beauty.
Keeping,
In touch with the child within us,
Is a worthy goal.

I love that word "Calendaristically" It's as if the last few tendrils of winter refuse to let go and have to be pried apart in fits and starts to free the promise of spring for us.

It's strange there are time gaps between the calendar and the astronomical. It would be interesting if they were identical.

It is rare to see such flower shop which store mant flowers outside in the hearth of a city. Generally, they are a bit out of the city.

We missed warm and sunny days, but March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.

@bluemoon What a beautiful park. You are fortunate to be able to enjoy its spaces.

I am thrilled that many people around the world will soon be preparing to receive the gift of spring.
In Greek mythology De meter is the mother of the seasons, she is the symbol of changes, transformations, rebirths like spring.
Thank you for sharing these amazingly colorful photos.

With pleasure! That's right, much of humanity is waiting for spring. Demeter, mother of the seasons? I didn't know. All I knew was that she was the goddess of agriculture. They're connected.

I love going to Circus Park! Well, truth be told, we will follow you, wherever you go. Spring is in the air and I know how much you love it!

Tria's is such a lovely store and the woman is a brilliant businesswoman. I could walk right by a store, but, she displays her beauty, right there in your path. How can you resist just looking? But, you know you must look and when you see it, you must have it, all you have to do is wait for it to go on sale. I am a patient woman. I wait for as long as it takes. Let's just look, okay?

Resistance is futile!

Look at all those Spring flowers!! So vibrant are those flowers, just waiting to be bought and planted in a waiting flowerbed. I have to admit, I love a good bargain with flowers. I buy the bulk of perennials after the season has ended and they have lived their season, There is no sense in paying full price any longer. I love the flower garden at your house, every year it gets more beautiful. I can hardly wait to see growth!

Thank you for always taking us with you! Thank you so much for supporting the challenge!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world. Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday

Rules of the Road to Join #MarketFriday!

  1. Go to any type of market, or anywhere where you pay money for a service. It can be a museum, a movie theatre, or an auction. Be creative!
  2. Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost? We like to compare prices, otherwise, it is just pictures of a market!
  3. Post the pictures! No out-of-focus ones, please! Tell a little bit about the pictures that you post. Having many pictures to scroll through does not make a better post without explanation.

Thanks for being with me, @dswigle. I love being with you (virtually) in the places you go to. Always something to see! Patience is a quality that always pays off...

I've been looking forward to this spring for a long time, there are signs that it will be very beautiful, unfortunately for me, this year has come with a lot of big and heavy problems and I don't know how much I will be able to enjoy what nature has to offer.

Denise, I hope it is as fine and beautiful for you as this spring is!

Really? Is everything okay with you and the family, Dan? I know how much you love the Spring.

I look forward to a little bit nicer temps as we have slid into a few chilly days. The beautiful buds on the trees are complaining!

All is lovely on this end.

We already have an advanced spring, it's warm, but there will be some bad days ahead, fortunately, I don't think there will be any more negative temperatures to affect the already blooming trees. Probably it is the same for you because I noticed that your climate is similar to mine.

Not all is well with my family, I think this year is the hardest for us, and I hope we get through these problems well and with all of us, thanks for asking!
