Silver Stag

Sunday in the park. It's happening in Iasi, Romania. The park is called Copou and is famous and sought after by locals and tourists. I spent many pleasant days there with my wife and friends.

The park is made for walking and playing, which first caught my attention when I arrived. A little girl was playing, actually hiding behind a strange bench.

IMG_8908.jpg

A special design and a good idea, even kinetic, as long as the impression is that the bench is like a small waterfall, where the lines flow.

IMG_8906.jpg

Surely, this bench is an excellent attraction for children, a good place to play and be entertained. I didn't come to the park with children, but I came with someone who is childlike in the good sense of the word: our wife and good friend.

IMG_8902.jpg

What do children do when they are at the park and not playing?

IMG_8905.1.jpg

They always want to buy something...
The ladies who are with me want the same thing!

IMG_8894.jpg

Once our cravings were satisfied, we could start the walk we came to the park for, but that walk was short.

IMG_8916.jpg

We met the Silver Stag. I had never seen him before that day.

IMG_8918.jpg

The silver stag was made of aluminum. Aluminum sheet molded into a kind of sculpture.

IMG_8920.jpg

An allegory I didn't understand. A deer is leaning against a man. Why? I can't figure it out, and my lack of imagination makes it more challenging.

IMG_8897.jpg

Whatever it means, it represents something sad for me. When I look at this statue, I feel miserable. I'm sorry I don't know why.

The walks also have a purpose, a finality; for us, this is the Botanical Garden.

IMG_8922.jpg

The famous Botanical Garden in Iasi is the oldest, the largest, and, in my opinion, the most beautiful in Romania.

IMG_8936.jpg

This is where I stop; I think the flowers in the garden deserve some color.

This story was an excuse to try a few more conversions from color to black and white. It is an exercise and a training, and I enjoy doing that.

This is my entry for the #monomad challenge.

I rely mostly on photos in all my blogs. Words don't help me as much as photos.

I always start with photos when I want to write a blog. Photos remind me of places, events, and feelings that turn into words. The words have even less importance; they are a companion to the photos I want to show. This often makes the story uninteresting or common, yet it is necessary; otherwise, the photos would merely be a series of unexciting images.

I make this statement as a plea to those reading not to overjudge the text and to focus on the photos. The story puts everything in context and provides the explanations and clarifications necessary for the blog to convey something of interest to the reader.

A wise saying goes that a photograph is worth a thousand words, but I'm not sure. My opinion is that it depends on the viewer.

The park has some interesting bench and silver stag. I hope the bench was made of wood :)

Beautiful botanical garden... rare those seats, but children always find a place to play... that sculpture makes you feel small. It is beautiful!

I find the park very interesting. That bench makes my eyes wiggle whenever I see it! I can't look at it for too long. It reminds me of my visit to Hong Kong, where I saw those benches along with an aluminum sculpture of a human-like figure.
