My Brother's Cat

A recent trip to a remote corner of the country brought me close to my brother and his family consisting of his wife, a cat, a few dogs, and a few chickens. Thinking of this composition, I remembered the title of an extremely pleasant, moving, and a humorous book called "My Family and Other Animals" by Gerald Durrell.

"My family and other animals" is the story of Gerald Durrell's childhood, spent in Corfu, together with his three brothers. Written with a lot of humor, the book presents the adventures of the children, the animals, and the plants on the island.

Gerald ('Gerry') Malcolm Durrell (7 January 1925 – 30 January 1995) was a naturalist, author, and television presenter. He is the younger brother of the well-known English writer Durrell Lawrence. He was a renowned researcher in the field of natural sciences and a campaigner for the protection of the environment and the preservation of endangered species.

I warmly recommend reading this book. I spent many moments of pleasure walking my eyes through its pages.

I love all animals, in childhood this love was even deadly, because of it many small animals died because I wanted, out of too much love, to have them and raise them. After I grew up and matured, I understood what I did and... I can no longer escape the regret and remorse of those childhood mistakes.

When I was physically and mentally mature, I had several animals, several dogs that were part of the family, but never cats. I didn't have cats because of the incompatibility between this feline species and my wife.

My brother has a young cat, the result of a forbidden love affair between an aristocratic, British shorthair with an ordinary pussycat. A young cat, very beautiful and very pleasant. Even my wife was smitten, not enough to agree to have a cat but to admit that it is a beautiful and polite animal.

I managed to take a few photos and make a few portraits.
