It's Been 18 Years...
Opinions are divided... I remember the title of a Romanian film: Was it or wasn't it? A question about the Romanian Revolution of 1989.
The question was not about the entire revolution, but only whether there was a revolution in a certain city in Romania. It is called Vaslui. You can imagine what the revolution was like there, if they ended up asking themselves that question!
I want to paraphrase and slightly change this question...
That is: Is there or isn't there global warming right now?
If we are to go by the opinion of "the most powerful man on earth," there isn't. He knows much better than thousands of scientists who have been studying the phenomenon for decades. He looks out the window and says: How can there be global warming when it's such a harsh winter outside!

In fact, the aforementioned "gentleman" does not see this image when he looks out the window, but I do.
It started snowing in the evening, and this morning it was a reality. A story! A story I haven't seen in a very long time.

I wish I could say that I was taken by surprise, that it was a huge and pleasant surprise. It wasn't like that. Now we know almost exactly what the weather will be like in the next few days. So it was an expected joy.

We were almost buried in snow. I remembered the winters of yesteryear. In my childhood, especially, I experienced miraculous winters. That was more than half a century ago.
I went out, with difficulty, into the street to see what was happening, especially since my little bamboo forest was no longer visible from the yard. My bamboos had been exiled from the yard to the street because my wife was afraid they would invade the whole garden.

Luckily, bamboo is very strong and elastic.

The street, with everything on and around it, is buried under snow. Winter in the city is not as beautiful as winter in the countryside, except for the moments immediately after snowfall, when the snow is almost untouched and still clean (from pollution).

We were snowed in for three days. No snow removal equipment came, and no one could move their cars.

So, was it or wasn't it? Or, rather, is it or isn't it?
I'm talking about global warming!
My humble opinion is contrary to that of "the most powerful man on earth."
The news announced that this snowfall in Bucharest at the end of February 2026 was the heaviest in the last 18 years!
This is my entry for the #monomad challenge.
I rely mostly on photos in all my blogs. Words don't help me as much as photos.
I always start with photos when I want to write a blog. Photos remind me of places, events, and feelings that turn into words. The words have even less importance; they are a companion to the photos I want to show. This often makes the story uninteresting or common, yet it is necessary; otherwise, the photos would merely be a series of unexciting images.
I make this statement as a plea to those reading not to overjudge the text and to focus on the photos. The story puts everything in context and provides the explanations and clarifications necessary for the blog to convey something of interest to the reader.
A wise saying goes that a photograph is worth a thousand words, but I'm not sure. My opinion is that it depends on the viewer.

I think it is easy to overlook global warming during a snowstorm, but you point how complicated the situation really is. The difference between winters from the past and the weather we see today is a real change. Only one or two times snow in Istanbul in winter.
Amazing!! The amount of snow is incredible, and we haven't been able to go out for three days! You always have to have supplies on hand.
Global warming... well, in my opinion, climate change is happening, but nature isn't responsible for it.
