Greetings Dear Art Appreciators;
.
Hope you are well.
.
We are into Tulip season once again and what a heady time it can be for those who appreciate Tulips...quite intoxicating really.
Many an artist has painted or photographed Tulips...so there is no shortage of images throughout the year, however the season is upon us and the actual flower is a beauty to behold. They are a strong stemmed flower in an almost endless variety of colour and shape.
This series began with a couple abstract paintings of tulips and then on to a more defined execution of the subject matter. Tulips continue to show up in Bleujay's work year round as they are available in the shoppes even when not in season...these flowers serve as a reminder of the season and bring inspiration to the art table.
You may have noticed the addition of a tulip on the left somewhere between the work in progress and the final artwork....that happens sometimes...flexibility is key for the artist as the art in progress can open the artist's eyes to further possibilities....hope that makes sense. ^__^
Whether this completes the 'Cottage Tulip Series' or not remains...only time will tell.
.
Wishing you and yours all the best...God's best!

It is faith alone in Christ alone for eternal life.

What type of pencil did you use for sketch work?
The sketch work before you added the colors was where you spent a lot of time. The finished product after you added the pink colors was actually very nice. Well-done.
How long did you spent on it altogether?
Greetings @josediccus ,
How very kind of you to drop by....with your lovely comment.
Interesting that you mentioned the pink colour....the colour 'Pink' is a favourite...however in order to use it successfully in a painting..at least for me...it must transcend sweetness. That takes some practice..it was a goal last year and took most of year before I was satisfied that the colour was reading as I had hoped. Appreciate hearing your thoughts.
You queried...'What type of pencil did you use for sketch work?'
A Graphite Drawing pencil...2B
and ....'How long did you spent on it altogether?'
For me...The Inspiration and ideas have to percolate into a Composition....that takes time...sometimes a year more or less. Once the idea is on the Watercolour paper...the painter knows what to do, although colour can be a show stopper, even if one has figured out ahead of time. The actual drawing, painting time is close to three weeks.
Hope the above makes sense.
Kind Regards,
Bleujay
I was an artist when I was younger, so I know how it generally feels to look forward to being motivated. I have more of a Sketcher and that's why I asked the pencil you used and the time you took the finish it all.
3 weeks is such a time, sometimes we appreciate art even more when we realize how long it took to finish it and find the inspiration.
Thank you for your interest.
Tulips are one of my favourite flowers. As always you capture the flowers splendidly!
Hope you are well 🙂
Greetings @meesterboom ,

Beautiful, you know that I have a lot of faith, I always receive help from GOD, in fact we always know that there are signs of his presence in our lives, for example: There are days when we plan an agenda and for some reason everything changes, then we find out that something happens in the place where we thought we would go, they are NOT coincidences, it is the hand of GOD taking care of us, that is my opinion.
Greetings @lupega ,
Thank you for dropping by with your kind compliment.
Yes...indeed...I would agree.
Kind Regards,
Bleujay
I love your tulip painting!
Tulips are really special and some of the first spring flowers. So many vivid colors. They do look pretty in a vase and need no filler to show them off.
Your photo is really wonderful too. :)
Greetings Jacey,
Thank you for your lovely reply and kind compliments. ^__^
Yes...you are correct in that Tulips need no filler....a very elegant flower.

Welcome
The Cottage Tulips are lovely! I have always dreamed of living in a cottage in a woodland clearing. In this setting, my cottage would be surrounded by a potager garden and I would have rafts of tulips throughout, as well as cabbage roses lol. The interior walls would have paintings as lovely as yours gracing the walls. And I would live in peace and harmony ever after :) That's the feeling I get too, when I look at your watercolors.
Greetings @tamaralovelace ,
Such a lovely response to the painting...thank you! ^__^
Here's hoping your dream comes true....a splendid dream it is!
Kindest Regards,
Bleujay
NB Seaman Joe is still in this race he says...though he's lost his mascot....hope to see you there.
What an incredibly colourful painting of those tulips @bleujay, a glorious salad of colours for sure, absolutely wonderful. It's great that you continue to work or complete the Tulip Cottage Series which I have talked to you about before.
I must ask how long does a painting of that nature take you? Even though you can find tulips all year round in shops it's good to know tulips are back in season.
And what a bright yellow and creamy dreamy flower you have given us at the end of the post, very uplifting, I can almost smell it. What flower is that? Another tulip? I can't tell as I am an ignorant gardener! And not really a gardener either!

Greetings @peaceandmoney ,
What a lovely response to the artwork and photography. All tulips. ^__^
There may be at least one more painting at least in this series as a new drawing already exists....we will see. However at the moment some photography I did recently has caught my imagination with no end to what art could come of it. So we will see. ^__^
To answer your query...'I must ask how long does a painting of that nature take you? ' This is an explanation for the larger works mostly the others are usually a sort of practice or experiment.
How it works for Bleujay: I come across an idea, sometimes several ideas, several images which are intriguing to my artistic eye.....and then I go about giving them a think in order to arrive at a composition for presentation. This phase can take a year or more....merely in the back of my mind and bring it forward from time to time to see if I can bring it together in a composition.
Phase two....Begin drawing and then transfer to Watercolour paper...determine colours, paint a legend, and then begin painting....this phase can take up to three or four weeks.
Phase three...Hang it in the studio, study it, critic it....live with it really.
Determine if it is fit for human consumption...and Voila!...it is ready for Hive. ^__^
Hope that assists.....thank you for your kind query.
Speaking of Gardening...I hope you have heard of Sarah Raven...if one should come across her lectures or web page....one cannot help but become enthusiastic toward gardening.
Thank you for dropping by for a cuppa and for your ever so generous donation.
Kind Regards,
